I had so much fun looking through the existing thread about "American cartridges" that I thought it would be cool do the same thing for European cartridges. You can be the owner of one or both, or just wishing, which is where I am . So, I'll start.

6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser
9.3 x 62 Mauser

Both classic cartridges, and with the right loads, you're equipped for everything from long-range varmints to DG. For guns, let's make it a pair of Sakos, stainless/synthetic.

What do the rest of you all think?

That is an easy one for me:

7x57 Mauser
9.3x62 Mauser

I've got the 9.3mm and it is one of my favorite calibers. I really want the 7mm.

I think 6.5x55 and 9.3x62 would be hard to beat.The9.3x64 would give you more velocity but I think ammo supply is far more reliable for the 6.5x55 and 9.3x62 IHO

Already been there and done that, 7x64 and a 9.3x62. Both are built on double square bridge M98 actions.

Normally I would say a 7x57 and a 404 Jeffery but because we are wanting the Euro pair it would have to be the 7x57 and the 10.75x73
although the 7x57 and the 9.3x62 would also make a great pairing.

Yes 7*61sh is a Kvale(Norma)-Sharp&Hart co creation so i think it counts.

6,5*55+9,3*62 is a classic combination.
.308w and 9,3*62 has better matching speed at a running moose range.

Either a 6.5x55, 7x57 or 9.3x62 in a bolt action made up into Stutzens with 20" tubes, full length wood, rounded pistol grip, side panels, and compact scopes would make a dream pair - O.K. you forced me to decide ..... 7x57 & 9.3x62.

In a Single Shot I'd opt for the 7x57R & 9.3x74R.

I absolutely can not do just two. I will always have a 6.5X55 in my safe, if not three or four. I actually shoot an 8X57 more than anything else. However when I go hunting I am usually packing a 9.3, and that tends to be a 9.3X74R, more often than not.

My Hartmann & Weiss is chambered in 9.3x64 Brenneke, and has a gold "2" on the floorplate. I often wonder what "rifle "1" was.

While I love em all, especially my 9.3x64, the pair I find myself using most are the 6,5x55 and 9,3x62.

Getting interested in the 8x68S as of late.

9.3x62 (a true all around cartridge) and the 6.5x55 would make a fine pair,though.

I like my 8x68S too, a lot in fact. I'm just glad I don't have to choose only two, yet anyway.

I'm waiting for my 6.5x65 to come online. I know I will like that one.

Using the 6,5x55, 8x57 IRS, 8x68S, 9,3x62 and 9,64 makes it hard for me to decide..
In fact, the only american cartridge I use is the 30-06.

The best performanse I will say is from the 8x57 IRS and the 9,3x62/64.

If the 2 is on the latch of the floorplate , maybe that I can help you.

My vote goes for the 6.5x557 and 9.3x62. My Sauer and Blasers are set up for those two.

338 Lapua
and, if allowed, 416 Rigby
in custom CZ (Brno).

If I can't have the Rigby because its British, then give me a second 338 Lapua, or a 338 Norma Magnum.

Wow, quite a lot of replies! It's interesting to see which names get mentioned more than others.

I'm learning here, too; I had been totally unaware of the 10.75 caliber until I saw it mentioned. Googled it, and it looks to be quite a thumper on big stuff.

And yes, 416Tanzan, British ones count as European too, of course.

7x57 (should have gone with a 7x64) and

Both built on Mauser 98's.

Had a CZ .416 Rigby but nothing to shoot with it.

Looking at a .318WR for my next project to fill the gap between the 7 and 9.3

Oddly enough, one of my projects is a Siamese Mauser in 7.62x54R. The Russian/Eruo? equivilent of the .30-06 can't be a bad thing.

Would you lot not want a 12 gauge? English cartridge. Or are we limited to rifle carts?
Single shot/Double rifle carts or just rimless?

I want a pair of 404 and 500 Jeffery rifles. Extended tang titanium Mauser actions, floor plates and bolts with drop belly plate for the single stack 500 and stagger for the 404 with flush plate. Strong dense wood but trim. Not fancy wood but maybe some good striping contrast. Desert Ironwood perhaps. A silver plate with monogram. Matching sights, scopes, barrel bands and other trimmings. Case color hardening. I want a silver flask and cigar holder in the buttstock for celebratory kills.

If needing to be a medium bore than a 350 Rigby and 280 Ross (Ross is commonwealth so still is valid . )

I guess I just finished my pick..A switch barrel custom rifle on a Brno mod. 21 in calibers 9.3x62 and 7x57..Hard to beat that for a pair of aces.
