So I've been thinking about getting a spear to throw around, i was looking at the Samburu spear, but read a couple places that it will bend easy. So now i'm looking at the Assegai or Boar spear (long models). i mostly want something to throw in the yard.

Are there any other makers than cold steel? or any good reading on making your own?

thanks
bert

If you will google "atlatl", you will find lots of good info on spear throwing. If you are wanting to stick boars from horseback like the old Brits, then a boar-spear. Assegais and Boar-spears are not really throwing spears--they are stabbing spears. Throwing spears (darts) must be limber in order to fly correctly. The Atlatl will more than double your distance.

Here's a video with Australian Abo's hunting water-buffalo with their atlatl/spears and then Aficans hunting cape-buff with heavy, hand launched spears!

Museum Replicas has spearheads, also. More combat-style, but still Useful.
