A couple of years ago the Blue Book had picture of a pistol I handled at the SHOT show that fired a 50 bmg round, that would be a stopper to beat all .

It was rather large and totally compensated so recoil was mild according to the manufacturer.

From a performance stand point on large game coupled with ease of shooting then I would pick my 500 JRH
From a practical stand point of ease of getting ammo as wel as effectiveness then the 45 Colt is the Logical choice........... thumb

I have a Colt Anaconda in 45LC...4" barrel. If you have to carry it yourself it would be hard to beat.

I have the 460S&W and S&W 500 and if I had to choose one, after extensive testing it would be my 7 1/2" S&W 500. Anything the 460 can do, it can do.

i'm thinking one gun means traveling light and fast, and that may mean ending up in mayberry, usa
and that means the hardware is probably the only place carrying ammo, so isay which are the likely cals,22s,357,44mag ,and maybe 45colt.the choice a gp100 357 mag.

it's also a good bet that same hardware has 38s.

Justin, I shot a deringer in 10mm many years ago. Loaded with hot 180 grain loads, it was a handful to say the least!

Mine would have to be my 5.5" Stainless Ruger Redhawk in .44, which is just a great overall package for carrying for protection and for hunting. You can load some of the really stout Garrett or Buffalo Bore loads in these, too.

I keep it simple. 44 Mag. Ruger Super Black Hawk Hunter, Bisley. Will do pretty much everything that you would want to do with a hand gun if you do your part.

I would like a 50 Cal Special built on a Bisley frame with a 5" Barrel.Top velocities of about 1000FPS with a 400 gr cast.I think this would be an Ideal hunting revolver that would kill almost anything with out a nasty kick.

Substitute Super Redhawk 9.5-inch barrelled .475 for Paul's Freedom Arms 475/480 and I would be content. The reason I have not done this as an after-market conversion on my 480s is -- believe it or not -- not the ridiculous cost of conversion. My gut yearns for the 5-shot .475 SRH. My head knows I will never load my 480s anywhere near the top of their handloading range. And rational thinking is good for the soul.
