I was there in '07 when he shot that pig and the bullet entered right in front of the onside shoulder as the pig was quartering to us. The TSX unzipped it. This was not a gut shot pig -- it simply didn't want to concede.

Well flattop, I can hit what I aim at so that's not a problem. Most of the guys I know that routinely make head and neck shots also use a spotlight. Is that your secret?

If cheap shots, name calling, and belittling the members here is ok with you (which evidently it is),shouldnt that be stated in your "Decorum on the board" posting? How many here use sticks, a rest or a sitting position even at 20 yards?
It is so easy to say you need to shoot a deer at such and such a place but you really need to come and show me how it is done. I am willing to bet 99% of you can't hit a paper plate off hand every shot at 100 (Even with a rifle.) and many have trouble at 50.
Give me a rest and even 200 yards is easy but I don't have that convenience in the field.
I am hunting, not sitting in an elevated blind over a food plot with a coffee maker, a heater and a bottle of Jack, outfitted with rests.
Deer appear anywhere and it is quick with only one shot offered and many times there is no shot at all so you watch them go. When I watch a deer cross an opening in the thick, it is shoot and shoot fast or go home empty. Yeah, sure, make a neck shot, come show me your expertise. I will put you on stand and pick you up. Be aware there is no rest in the tree stand and you will have to look for a little hole to shoot through. It could be behind you too.
Then I have to tell you that once season opens, deer don't stop and lolly gag around. You might, if you are lucky, have 10 seconds to make a shot.
You are invited to hunt anytime if you can take it.

bfr; You never know who you are talking to on the other side of that computer screen thats sitting in front of you, so, before you go making accusations about folks not knowing how to shoot, or, to hunt, it would be best to get a little background on them. As I said in a previous post, I do not take shots over 50 or 60 yards at best. One reason is I can barely see that far, and secondly if I need to take a shot past that distance, I use a rifle. Heres the deal, and I will end this right now. You do what you do, and I will do the same....and, I hope that you have a very happy, safe, and prosperous new year...........even if you lung shoot deer!!!

I feel it has been fun and just maybe the longest running post ever.
Flat top, I just gave up the rifle as being too easy. I have never needed to shoot a deer but have always loved to hunt them. Archery made me a hunter first.
Yeah, I have days sitting with a bow when I wish I had a revolver and days with a revolver I wish I had a rifle but in the end whatever you are using works. The secret is do not doubt what you have in your hands. I killed 6 deer this season, quit and everything worked from the bow to the revolver.
I want us to be all friends for the next year and all after that too.
Let us forever make our points without anger and continue to be friends.

bfr; Angry...me?...never. Obstinant, hard headed, single minded, ornery.....always! dont hunt from treestands here...we "still hunt". I used to hunt with a bow many years ago, and still have my last recurve (this was before those things with the little wheels on them...that they "call" bows), but, physical injury just doesnt allow me to do that any more. Even though I started out as a handgun hunter in the early 60's, I have always been a rifleman at heart.........handgun hunting is just too easy!!!!!
