Not enough space to feel comfortable with a shoulder mount, but I think this turned out well.

Kyler, here's another pict of those tusks. The story will follow. Can you guess their origen?

My other thought was Thailand.

Nice buff skull, where did you shoot him?

My guess is that the tusks are a resin composite repo from China, maybe Thailand. From what I can see in the photo, they look good. If they are real elephant ivory, they cost some big $$$$.

RBHunt, you nailed it. They are, I am told, over 100 years old and are made of what appears to be cow ribs (not resin) glued together.
They were actually easier to get into the US than real ivory legally taken!
I could not import a Mozambique PAC bull I had taken, and decided to get some other tusks. these were just a bit larger than mine. Wink

what a unique, and pleasing to the eye, way to do a trophy mount. I may save the taxidermy fees on my Cape Buffalo and take a nice Kudu home instead.

Great photos

Yukon delta, I haven't seen as many for sale recently as there were a few years ago. Here's a pair that's on E-bay now, with some decent photos.

If I were in the market, I might offer her 2k. Then again, they might be worth her asking price.

Oh, I remember that now. Thanks for the reminder and the link. That was a cool vacation.

Matt Graham is running Penfold's old operation right? I wonder how involved/expensive it is to trap one of those salties and get the skull exported...say in combination with a buff hunt? Did you export the croc skull or do you know who has?

Matt Kelman is running the Carmor Plains Station. He traps crocs for which depredation permits have been issued. This old croc was eating cattle on a neighboring station, and we trapped it for them. The rancher kept the hide to help defray costs of the eaten cattle, and Matt kept the skull. It didn't cost anything to get in on the trapping, but the skull would have cost a bit if I had bought it from Matt.
I believe he's the only guy who has all his ducks in a row in order to export the salties legally. He's trying to sell the station, and if you want to get in on a croc trapping expedition, this would be your best chance.
