Lorenzo, that is a mannlicher stocked mauser 98, chambered in 35 whelen (30-06 necked up to 35 caliber). It was smithed by a local guy by the name of Wayne Barnett. He was active in the 60's and 70's in the area in which I live in Texas. When I saw the rifle, it was lust at first sight. Beautiful rifle--the wood is fantastic! Set trigger and an all-around excellent big game cartridge. That hog would look good in a bar in Razorback Country, and some places in Texas, too. Steve, Last April I took a 5 day ride with about 20 other old farts. We started at El Dorado, moseyed up to Eureka Springs, then back down. Rode about 200 miles per day. An Ozark kinda thing. I really enjoyed Arkansas, both the scenery and the people. GWB | |||
