mines deleted too !

i felt too compelled not to write. been a while now but on another forum had a discussion with a gent in gettysburg who had part ownership in a antique revolver worth well over 100 grand.

his home was ransacked not long after his thread. not much was missing beacause whoever had done it appeared to be looking for something else. the gun was not in his possession at that time.

You have to know your audience/market.

Conrad Evarts was trying to reach out to "young" hunters. I am 29. Do I qualify? I do not use twitter, I do not like facebook, so maybe I am just an old codger trapped in a young body.

CE misjudged who buys CB's books, DVD's, and African Safari's in general. The typical safari enthusiast who visits www.craigboddington.com is older, has a successful business or profession, and is now doing what they love, hunting.

They are not young, upstart punks. Maybe there are a few, but the vast majority are not.

If your sales are coming from the over 50(or 40) crowd, you can reach out to younger audiences, but you better choose a way that will not turn away the current market.

Or else you risk killing the goose for the egg so to speak.

It was a poorly thought out, poorly executed plan. CE's rant, while hilarious, probably cost CB some sales. It damn sure didn't generate any.

I believe this is referred to as "extortion"

I presume "connybear3000" is the starter of this thread. He's only sold two other items on Ebay per his history.

A similar offer of Mr. Boddington with a Moz Cape Buffalo went for $250.

Auction

I wonder who the benefactor was?

Gents:
The saddest part of this situation is CB not coming on here and distancing himself from the butt head that is trying to screw people out of money with such a childish method. 9000$ for a website? Pay to post your photo? Pay more for old clothes? Dumbest crap I've ever seen! My website is free except for 9$ a month maintenance fee. Personally, I feel selling oneself for money is beneath most levels of honor. (There is a name for this but it slips my mind at the moment). I guess that is why Safari Rifles has a spot on my bookshelf and Safari Rifles 2 was immediately given away. And, that's why I dropped the African Sporting Gazette--everything was/is an advertisement. But, that's just my opinion.
Secondly, at times my sense of humor can be as foul as the next bloke, but I wish you would drop the comments about CG. I mean, if there were like posts about your wives or daughters you would probably sing a different tune. But, again, that's just my opinion.
Cheers all. I'm enjoying AR more and more each month.
Cal

Might even get more money for that autographed water buffalo if he mentions it was shot in a national park!

Has anyone got to the bottom of what actually happened in Australia rather than the rumors going around?

Does anyone on here actually believe that Boddington will ever come back on this site?

Come on folks use the brains God gave you.

Boddington has been tried/convicted/executed by the righteous members of AR and as such, few if any on here would give the man the benefit of the doubt at this point in time.

It would not matter what explanation Boddington might givetoo many folks have already found him guilty and passed judgement.

I am afraid I don't agree with you.

In my few dealing s with him, he has always been a true gentleman.

Conrad Evart is the one who brought all this about, and the rumor of him hunting in a national park is also very hard to believe.

No way in hell would I believe that he purposely went into a national park to hunt.

If that had actually happened, I will put the blame 100% on the PH he was with.

They might be some legal implications here. Or the best way for him is to post what had actually happened.

Keeping quiet seems to make the rumors more credible.

Forget AR for the moment.

The point is there are too many rumors floating about this the quicker he puts them to bed the better it is for him.

2 salient facts:
1. Conrad Evarts tried to raise money for Craig Boddington's personal COMMERICIAL website funding
2. Craig Boddington linked the fund raising website on his OWN Facebook page. everything else is background noise- i.e. Craig KNEW this fund raising effort was in motion.
the very fact that the fund raiser and Facebook links are now gone pretty much says it all (not to mention that a grand total of $120 had been raised before the delete) flame
