Never thought I would see it.
Great job by Conservation Force and all involved.

It used to be fantastic and I don’t know why there would not be good elephant and buffalo being so close to Botswana.

An acquaintance hunted there in 1973..Big 5, herds of 300 sable …..

Here is your chance to be a pioneer and among the first hunters to hunt in Angola in over 30 years. Thanks to the work of Conservation Force and DSC, Angola is re-opening safari hunting and, together with the Angolan Hunters Association, we are pleased to present a rare opportunity for two hunters to hunt big game where few living hunters have. This amazing 14-day/13-night conservation hunt will occur on three separate game farms and includes the trophy fees for the following species, all shared by the hunters: 1) Carivo Game Farm for 2x kudu valued at $2,000/each and 1x warthog valued at $300; 2) Green Ox (Boi Verde) Game Farm for 2x waterbuck valued at $2,500/each and 1x eland valued at $3,000; and 3) Onyati Game Farm for 2x eland valued at $3,000/each. Method of take is rifle only; rifle/ammo hire at $60/day/hunter is highly recommended as gun clearance may be lengthy. Hunt is available August-October 2025 or 2026 and may be upgraded to include additional species at current price list. Transportation during the hunt is mostly by spot & stalk. This package includes field prep, professional hunting guides, trophy fees as listed, transportation and lodge accommodations during hunting, sandwiches/snacks during overland trips, maid/laundry service, non-alcoholic beverages, Wi-Fi and gourmet meals. Not included are dip & pack service, transportation to shipper, international/domestic airfare to/from Luanda (arriving airport), airport assistance at $100/pp, domestic air charter from Luanda to Catumbela at $150/pp (economy), ground transport from Catumbela to Carivo Game Farm (45 minutes) at $150/pp, ground transport from Carivo to Boi Verde Game Farm (6 hours) at $300/pp, ground transfer from Boi Verde to Onyati Game Farm (3 hours) at $150/pp, return charter from Lubango to Luanda at $155/pp, trophy fees for animals taken, lost or wounded and staff gratuities. NOTE: Trophy fees and other related govt. costs may be subject to change as this decree is still in the making and will be published when confirmed. A PERCENTAGE OF PROCEEDS BENEFITS ACA - ANGOLAN HUNTERS ASSOCIATION. Emanuel Louro, emanuellouro@hotmail.com, 011 244 923 504 922.

Larry this is great BUT not yet the Angola we are looking for.

The famous old Coutada’s were: Mucusso, Mavinga and Luiana. It sounds like these will be the next phase of the reopening.

Again, it used to be fantastic

There have been rumors for years, but looks like it's finally happened, albeit a ranch hunt. Hope the trend continues. Always wanted to go there.

Alas, I would sign up to hunt there in a New York minute, but only for giant sable and colossal elephant.

That, unfortunately, cannot happen now or likely even in my lifetime.

But maybe someday.

Wow! Even a partial opening is gaining ground.

Would be amazing if some real wild big game areas opened up.

I'd go just to experience Angola and leave footprints in Angolan dust...

On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.

Maybe for you BUT all these caveats, what and where I would hunt, lead one to possibly never going and losing the chance to hunt there before the next government official closes Angola. How many times have we heard Kenya was going to open...

To each his own adventure.

Hi Bwana, I did not say don't go, however it is not the Angola of lore, IF you are an Angola aficionado.

IMHO, hunting on a game farm is the same no matter where it's done.

For my money, one might as well go to Texas.

We visited both Lobito, and Luanda on our Circle Africa and back cruise earlier this year. Both interesting cities that were quite modern for West AFRICA. First cruise ship ever to visit Lobito... news and police followed our every stop on tours!!
We would have no trepidation on a return visit to hunt!!
I too would love to hunt Giant Eland!!

IMHO, your first statement is a bit silly...but you are certainly entitled to your opinion.

Regarding your second statement....you obviously have not looked at the prices of hunting African game in Texas lately Roll Eyes

DSC sent this out late this afternoon.

DALLAS, TX — In a bold and optimistic moment at the Inaugural DSC Summer Expo, Rob McCanna, Chief Executive Officer of Dallas Safari Club (DSC) and DSC Foundation, joined a high-level delegation from Angola along with partners from Conservation Force, to announce the reopening of Angola to legal, regulated hunting. The two hunter-led conservation organizations also signed a memorandum of understanding with their Angolan counterparts, forming the basis of cooperation to build the African country’s hunting industry.

Speaking before an enthusiastic and supportive gathering of international hunter-conservationists and outfitters, McCanna emphasized the significance of Angola’s move—not merely as a geographic reopening, but as a strategic, science-based return to sustainable use. “This is a door reopening,” he stated, “a door to wild country, to real adventure, and to conservation that actually works.”

Once a premier African hunting destination, Angola’s wildlife sector was devastated by decades of war, leaving wildlife populations unmanaged and vulnerable. McCanna praised the Angolan leadership, their people and passionate conservationists for their determined efforts to rebuild natural resource governance, restore habitats, and reintroduce regulated hunting as a tool for conservation and community development.

“Angola is not following a script written by activists or donor-driven agendas,” McCanna noted. “This is Angola’s decision. The Angolan people are standing up for science and recognizing that hunting is the surest way to conserve wildlife.”

McCanna urged the hunting community and conservation stakeholders to support Angola in building a gold-standard hunting framework centered on sound ethics, local benefit-sharing, and ecological integrity. He called on seasoned hunters to add Angola to their future plans and conservation supporters to “back this effort.”

The Director of the National Institute of Forestry Development (IDF), the competent authority on hunting in Angola, Dr. Simao Zau said, ”I would like to thank Conservation Force for the intense technical assistance they started to guide the Angolan authorities in implementing the Hunting Regulations with the support of DSC, and we are determined to overcome the immense challenges ahead of us, conscious of the outstanding value that well-regulated hunting can bring to wildlife conservation and communities livelihoods.”

To support the rebirth of hunting in Angola, a 14-day plains game hunt was auctioned off during the DSC Life Member Breakfast and a 5-day blue marlin fishing adventure sold at the Smoke & Spurs kickoff event, held during the Inaugural DSC Summer Expo in Grapevine, Texas July 17-19. These auctions, along with other fundraising events held during the 3-day event, helped raise ~$3.5M in support of the DSC mission.

Anyone knows any details about these farms?

How big are they?

Only reason I would hunt on a farm is if I have many non hunting friends who enjoy being out in the bush.

That is why we hunted South Africa twice.

Had a great time.

But still on a farm.

For proper hunting, I would rather be in wild areas.

Saeed, I think it would be a fine thing for you to do. OK, farm hunting may not be to your taste but you would give a lot of pleasure to a lot of people and give this excellent project a boost in income and publicity.
