Elephant Tusk Reproduction ??

Seriously contemplating hunting a management elephant bull next year in Zimbabwe.

Ele will most likely either have one tusk, or a broken tusk, and/or small ivory (under 45lbs) and obviously non-exportable.

Even though I would be doing this for the "hunt" itself, it would be nice to have a tangible memento. Anyone that has ventured down this path, any recommendations/suggestions on taxidermists stateside to utilize for reproductions?

Appreciate the assistance.

Check with Wendell Reich, I think he was doing reproductions at one time.

There are several companies making repro's for the taxidermy trade. Finish work is paramount to obtaining a quality looking set, otherwise you end up with something that looks plastic and cheap. Send me a message if you like and I'll forward you some information on getting a decent set.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history when everybody stands around reloading" - Thomas Jefferson

Every morning the Zebra wakes up knowing it must outrun the fastest Lion if it wants to stay alive. Every morning the Lion wakes up knowing it must outrun the slowest Zebra or it will starve. It makes no difference if you are a Zebra or a Lion; when the Sun comes up in Africa, you must wake up running......

"If you're being chased by a Lion, you don't have to be faster than the Lion, you just have to be faster than the person next to you."

I did make quite a few until I couldn't do it anymore. I still have the molds, and will probably make a few once I heal up a bit. I won't attempt it until this fall or winter though.
