It is true what Mark Sullivan says.It is better to wait until the buff is close then put the bullet in the brain-with a stopper of course. It is not easy to wait but if you don't this will be the outcome.

That PH is carrying a suppressed, scoped rifle. Among all the other issues with this video, I'm really wondering if that PH is backing up the client with an adequate caliber... 300 WM is probably not adequate...

Buffalo was wounded with a crossbow the day before - the guy who walks in the back with the phone filming is the guy who gutshot the buff. The PH is carrying a scoped 375 and the dude that got drilled is carrying a 243 to stop a wounded buffalo. Didn't work so well. Happened here in SA, Eastern Cape

I can see the fence posts in the background.

Almost as bad as the one wounded by Mark Sullivan's client using a 500 or something n similar and had to be followed for several hours! clap

Shot a buffalo, or any animal, badly, and you can expect something to happen.

I home no one got seriously hurt.

I don't think much of the man who wounded it not finishing it off himself with a rifle!

Leaving MS out of this, don’t you agree a double at close quarters would have been ideal in this situation?
Bear in mind they both shot and failed to stop the buff with one shot from the bolt guns....

Sullivan and his client both had doubles.

Both I think shot at the buffalo, several times.

Still needed hours of tracking!

I’m not familiar with the MS video you mention.

I do agree that one well placed shot is all that It would take to end this though.

It can be done with a bolt gun, but I would be more comfortable with my double in this scenario
though.

Evidently the fence didn't make the buffalo any less dangerous...

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry watching this video. Maybe both? Just plain stupid people doing stupid things, and paying a price for it.

DArcy said it best!

I think the best use of the 243 would have been to put one’s self out of misery before the buffalo could. Then, what about that last shot into the buffalo. Hard to tell from the video, but if things were a little ‘off’, I could imagine him hitting the fellow on the ground. Total cluster fuck.

The story I got sent from a friend in SA was the bull was wounded the day before with a crossbow by the guy in camo filming. PH has a .375 and the guys in jeans with the suppressed, scope rifle was the farm manager, it is a .30-06.

The whole scenario is a bit a of balls-up. The yapping dog probably helps.. reminds me of a CBL hunt video where the PH's pet vervet monkey is jumping on and off people while they are in the final approach and trying to get a shot at the lion...

Never believe a farm Buffalo on the prod isn't as Dangerous as a wild one, They have mostly lost all fear of man, and they get hammered year around..A buff is a buff, hurt him and he will run, run him to much and he will fight, same with most DG, you can easily become the hunted...

RSA farmers make not good PHs for the most part and yes their are a few exceptions, not not a hell of a lot..Every farmer in RSA seems to have a PH license these days..

Exactly. Despite all that has been pointed out (fences, roads, ear tag, etc.), the fact of the matter is that the animal attacked with vigor - period. And yes, it was a goat rope...

I bet a wild buffalo would have caused more damage.

Ultimately, I am glad no one suffered serious injury.

It was a Mark Sullivan hunt. Obviously Mark shot at it as well as the client. Or maybe you're questioning if Mark even let his client shoot this time?

I thought that it was an Eastern Cape buffalo . I saw another video with the guy getting run over by a buffalo. Same type of terrain. To have the buffalo get you in that area takes some big time mistakes .. IMO..

Somehow the man that the buff got in contact with didn't think to get behind the tree. He was between the buff and a hard spot making injury all the more likely but I would say he probably came out of it o'k. Well yes, the double rifle was made specifically just for an event like this. I have no problem with any ph carrying a double rifle in an area where there is DG present.
