Hunting in Africa is an adventure. The number of variables involved preclude the possibility of a perfect hunt. Some problems will arise. How you decide to handle them will determine how much you enjoy your hunt.

Just tell yourself, "it's all part of the adventure." Remember, if Robert Ruark had gotten upset every time problems with Harry
Selby's flat bed truck delayed the safari, Horn of the Hunter would have read like an indictment of Selby. But Ruark rolled with the punches, poured some gin, and enjoyed the adventure.

I thought it was a joke.

Larry,

We have a few people here who seem to forget their sense of hunour sometimes! rotflmo

Not my best joke, but it is based somewhat on truth. Oh well.... CB is having a bad year....

I did not mean to be touchy, it is just that I expected more from Dogcat(because he has been a guy of high character).

Yes it was a joke, but it carried a bit of a punch(as Dogcat intended) because it does carry some truth. It is not the first time I have heard this knock on Boddington. Also, I don't think anyone here have the knowledge/right to judge just how expensive anyone's wife may be. Last time I checked it seemed that wife #4 is doing quite a bit of on camera work, so I would guess that she may be paying her way.

And I will say that I am the last guy to get all teary-eyed about the plight of our military men(they made the choice...) but it must be damn hard to keep a marriage going when you are called to duty. I wonder how many of us could keep our marriage together if we were gone for months at a time.

Jason,
Not trying to judge CB. His actions demonstrate what is going on behind the scenes. I have been married for many years to the only wife I know. I travelled 200 days a year for 5 years in my line of work. My wife and I raised three kids who are doing very well. I guess my point is - you make choices in life. You live with those choices. Sometimes the consequences of those choices are not what you want. When consequences occur and you choose to do some of the seemingly odd things that CB has done in the last year (selling used clothes, asking for money to run a website, sending the wife on a very expensive bear hunt, breaking ties with the guys who did your TV show filming, getting involved in a couple of odd looking deals), then you reap what you sow.

Would I wish 4 wives on someone? No. Would I wish bankruptcy on someone? Of course not!

I am not a lawyer, but I assume that by filing bankruptcy, some creditor is not going to get paid who trusted that CB would pay back what he borrowed.

To me, this is an integrity issue. I have seen enough of his public behavior to doubt I would want to do business with him or believe everything he says. The pattern I see sends up warning flags.

I hope he gets it sorted and wish him well. He has made some positive contributions to the hunting sport.

I've never done this myself, but I am told by those who have done it that one can hunt feral bulls in thickets along the Rio Grande border in Texas, next to Mexico. IIRC, they are longhorns, very wild and plenty dangerous.

One of my hunting buddies carried a 1911. Personally, I would use something with a little more knockdown.

This is at least the fourth time Thomasjohn has changed the name of this thread, as well as bringing to the top, for no apparent reason, several other threads. In addition to asking that the thread be deleted. His post on Dealey Plaza is a bit off too I am starting to wonder whether the person is a bit disturbed.

I do get tired of that line. They made the choice, but someone HAS to do it. That they do means you don't have to.

I will be flying first class tomorrow on two legs...unless there is a uniformed service member on the plane...then they get my seat. It is a choice I gladly make.

Excellent response. I saw a bumper sticker that said it you don't stand behind our troops feel free to stand in front of them.

So Bodds has had 3 wives and on his 4th. Bloody hell he must be a slow learner Smiler

Srub Bull hunting in Aust when done on foot can be more dangerous to your health than Water buffalo. The scrubbers tend to be way more niggly and if they pick you up are just as prone to stalk you as run off.

Coming from a farm I use to scoff at the idea of chasing scrubbers. Not now. Ihave not had a bad experience with them but know a few who have.
