I have warned people about booking/ hunting with Gordon Duncan after I was scammed out of many thousands of dollars by him. This was despite literally hundreds of excuses and finally a visit to a lawyer and promises from Duncan on a payment plan that has never materialised. However a new scam of his is afloat that I want you all to be aware of – to date he has stolen tusks from unsuspecting clients and I do not want you to be another casualty.

Basically he is posing as a legal trophy dealer. Whether he is or is not I cannot say for sure but he promises to buy your ivory for slightly under the going rate. This may be tempting to the many Trophy ele hunters that cannot export their tusks out due to the Fish and Wild life ban as a way to off set some of the costs. He is a sweet talker and he has conned some to take the tusks with monies “been paid tomorrow” stories! The rest is history!! He has conned quite a few Zimbabweans that have sold old family ivory also. Where the ivory goes I do not even want to guess. Anyway be warned operators as well as clients! Cheers Buzz

Good to know Buzz and thanks for the heads up. It sounds like Gordon Duncan has given up on Zimbabwe and intends to leave soon.

I offer the following response with All due respect to Buzz & Myles, and the process of accountability & transparency.
However these reports are unfortunate in their inaccuracies, & they are by no means encompassing of all of the facts & as a result are very misleading & grossly unfair.
That being said, I do not believe in fanning the flames in a public forum, Buzz did invite me to comment as I now do, however I remain committed as I always have been to do my honest best to resolve misunderstandings & outstanding issues with individuals on a personal level.
& it must be stated that I DO NOT suggest that Buzz's reports are a deliberate mis-representation of facts.
Sincerely

GD, certainly you have just confirmed everything Buzz has stated about you in your comically circular stated retort. I know Buzz personally and believe every word he has posted as a valid warning to everyone to avoid doing business with you.

With that doublespeak you should hang out a shingle.

Lets make this real easy for you; very simple yes or no questions, only possible answer is yes or no.

Do you owe Buzz money you promised to pay too him?

Have you possessions of ivory that you promised to pay the owner for and have not paid them for it?

Yes or No?

Why would a guy reply to a post being called a thief on multiple fronts and then say he doesn't disagree with being called a thief?

I sure wish all dishonest outfitters, guides and booking agents did this. It would sure make it a lot easier when deciding who not to book a hunt with!!!

Thierry yes I know & the fact is I have been, I have a signed agreement drafted by consent between us & to date I have managed to pay a total of $5500 to them, & when I have had difficulties making installments I have always let them know.
Regarding the ivory I was acting on behalf a client who legitimately purchased 12 pairs of tusks in 2013. I had managed to pay for 10 out of the 12 & I was let down on payment for the remaining 2 pairs & also have being doing my best to recover payment for these. It was not a scam it was a legitimate deal & I have been in constant communication with the remaining sellers to work it out. There has been no deliberate horse play involved it has just been a result of compounded unfortunate circumstances & I have been doing my utmost best under very challenging circumstances to resolve all outstanding issues with all involved. Judge me as you will.

Yes.

In the case of post ban (sport hunted) ivory or other elephant products it's illegal to buy, sell or trade them and I'd suspect that Americans could also probably be prosecuted under the good old Lacey Act as well.

Essentially Gordon says that not all of the "facts" are stated in Buzz's OP which he finds unfair but that there is truth in the statement that he owes Buzz money and that he is selling ivory acquired from clients and that he remains committed to "do his best" to resolve outstanding issues. He also doesn't think that Buzz statements - despite not including all of the facts - was intentionally intended to mis-represent the facts.

Gordon- sorry to call you out on this and this will be my last post- since the agreement with the lawyer you agreed you would pay us $1500 monthly till the balance was settled- last payment was July last year!!!!!! I went as far to say just show intent even if it was not the full amount of us$1500/month- still nothing!

I have 3 clients on this forum that still wait trophies including ivory and cats from you now dating back several years and like myself have also received 1000 incredible excuses and reasons why you have not honored your side of the deal!

Ps would you like to respond to Lahtari post- I would be interested to see what thats all about!!!

Now now Buzz, let him take his time. Whistling

In a meanwhile, did I understand correctly that Gordon still have some ivory left. Well that good, because I have a suggestion. And I write it here since he choose not to answer my emails.

To mr Duncan.

I don't know how much you owe Buzz but give my ivory, leopard and rest of the trophies to him as part of the payment of the debt. And I'll promise to pay Buzz, let's say 100 $ per each trophy. In this way we all win. I'll have slightly better chance to get my trophies some day, Buzz receives several hundred dollars and you prove once and for all that you are honest and committed, as you say.

Since I live in Europe it would be easier to start with me in terms of exporting ivory. And I would like to believe that your agent Aaron will certainly help yours US clients with their ivory when time comes. And if this works Buzz will get his money, at least some of it, your clients around the world who are now having slightly bitter thoughts of you will change our minds. And I'll make this easy to begin with.If ivory or the leopard is a problem (to find) let's start with my kudu scull as good will gesture.

What you say mr Duncan?

I was the PH for Lahtari's hunt.... (dare I say it!) We had a great hunt and I actually only became aware that GD still had his trophies when Lahtari mentioned it 3 years LATER! My presumption was he had shipped them out LONG ago... alas

Leopard, elephant, kudu, bushpig - we shot a lot of things that GD is still sitting with.

I am still trying my friend... still trying!

I have no doubt that Duncan did not ship the trophies. My question is what benefit would that be to Duncan? How does he profit from holding the trophies? Is he simply retaining the fees? Selling the trophies? Something else?

Phill, I just went through my emails and first time I was rude enough to suggest that there is something fishy going on was 3 months after I left the dark continent.

After that it was several emails reassuring that GD is man of his word. I did drop the subject with you my friend, because I kept you as a least guilty person of participants for what has happened. I still think we had a good time in Doma.

And by the time Aaron Neilson the GD's agent did stop answering my emails after his "shit happens what can I do attitude" Frowner and all the authorities that I could think of gave me polite nothing, I gave up. During this period of time I did received couple of those famous GD's excuses emails which are beyond wildest imagination.

Then just about three years later all this started other victims including Buzz contacted me and I re-activated. What good will this do. Not much I'm afraid.

We had thread about this earlier so anyone interested, here is the link.
