When these things come up, I tend to think of all our military people putting their lives on the line for this. Just doesn't seem right to me.

I did check into the Internet death threats a couple of years back when a member here threatened me. The local sheriff said there wasn't much that could be done unless the person physically showed up. That doesn't seem quite right to me.

However, its not going to accomplish anything! So from now on, I'm turning them over to law enforcement.
Corey's wife texted me this morning and wanted the screen shot from my FB message, where this clown just threatened me. Corey has a team of guys working with him on all the threats he's getting, so they are gonna look into this guy for me too.

Would you be so kind as to be in Zimbabwe the 1st part of May so that I may send you some "threats" until you offer to send me a plane ticket to Zimbabwe. I would prefer Harare so I don't have to shuttle from Vic Falls

Unfortunately, unless the recipient of such a message has a clue as to who sent it, it is very hard to prosecute. If we know who probably sent the message, it isn't just too difficult to subpoena the records necessary to make an arrest. But getting the custodian of those records under subpoena to testify in court (you can't just put the records into evidence in a criminal trial) is generally prohibitively expensive
In Texas, the records can be admitted in a criminal trial along with a business records affidavit. It would also be the prosecution who would subpoena the records, as the recipient (Aaron, Corey, Ivan, et al) would be the complainant.
However, you are correct about the difficultly of prosecution.

DonW28A mentor of mine once told me that 10 percent of people are passionate on each end of an issue and the 80 percent remaining don’t really care unless you give them a reason to care. I think Corey and Ivan and Aaron and many others are representing our 10 percent exactly like they need to and these folks that are posting the hate and profanity on the side of anti-hunting are hurting their cause more than they realize. People that don’t share a strong for or against passion tend to make their judgments on an issue on what they see and hear from those who represent each side. Right now we have the high ground because we are rational and articulate and backed up by proof. No matter how good we think it would feel—we need to resist any urge to say or do anything that brings us down to the level of the animal rights activists. We have and need to keep the moral high ground in this fight. Every threat they make undermines their cause with the vast majority of people. Don't forget that.

We've crossed swords before and then come to terms as gentlemen. I understand that all of us have a natural reaction to respond to a threat in kind. But, while most of these people are probably total pussies that will back down when faced with "getting their ass kicked", some may be total nut jobs.
I would urge you to report any threat to law enforcement. Even if they don't have enough to prosecute, in the unfortunate event something did happen, it would be documented. To be blunt, it might help solve your murder, or it might get you off if you were forced to inflict serious bodily harm on someone else.

Exactly right. When we reply, we're not replying to the Fidiot, we're EDUCATING, the 80% who are being inquisitive .
So if we stay civil and give good evidence then the emotive rants are seen for what they are and they hang themselves.
Try and keep a well thought out response close by that can be cut an pasted again an again

shakariGood point Dave...... when we were last targeted, we had umpteen death threats etc but amongst the messages, we had several polite enquiries asking us why we do what we do....... and we replied to them politely and explained.
Several of those people then agreed and understood that African hunting is a good thing.

While I agree with the philosophy...I am just not sure the bolded portion still holds true...at least the 'vast' part. That majority dwindles more each day.
Twenty years ago...this would have been a non-issue and Vast majority true...today...not so much...I am afraid. That is why I wore my gun to DSC this year for the first time ever in my life.

Sherrill Philip NeeseAaron,
You mentioned that Corey has a team of people working with him on this. Does he have anyone helping out with his FB page?
The page has some issues. He has thousands of comments on his page and a good portion of these comments are garbage. Hate filled, death threats, vulgar, trouble causing, etc, etc. Comments that should, as Ivan put it, be deleted/banned/reported as they add nothing to a discussion…
If he needs/wants help with his FB, I would like to volunteer. I am a computer geek that loves to hunt. Did 22 years in the Marine Corps and am now in my mid-50's. I have been on FB for over three years and I am familiar with a running a page and know what's required. I believe that we can have civil discourse with those that disagree with us, but have no problem dealing with those that don't get with the program.
Having said the above, whether it's me or someone else, he needs to get someone working on the page. He has a chance to do some good things with it.

Greg BrownleeThis chick is a problem - She really hits all the anti hunting circuits and has featured quite a few of us on her "Asshole of the Week", including us twice (I'm flattered).
She digs up personal information and posts it all over the anti-hunting pages along with their photo. She's posted photos of our offices with the address and phone numbers saying people should "pay us a visit". Scary stuff, maybe the FBI should investigate her. Look at her photos, every single one of them is anti-hunting and most have death threats in them or insinuations of it.

Interesting that that is what she chose as the last name to her imaginary online persona. She sure is a hateful bitch. Scroll through some of her posts. Jeez. I have better things to do than to sit and hate that much every single day.
Wonder how much she donated to wildlife conservation in the past year, or even 20 years.

Sherrill Philip NeeseGreg - I just looked at her page. I never knew you all were so popular. And to think we knew you way back when.

I was looking at Corey's FB page again. Some of the posts can be pretty entertaining… Then again, I was also informed by someone calling themselves "Jennifer Clark" that: "Did you know that the DSC supports sex with children overseas."
Good golly…
I guess the one benefit out of all of this is that it keeps these "individuals" off the streets. Who knows what trouble they could be getting into if they weren't there ranting about this and that.
