Looks like most of the crew is new this year.
Don't see many of the long time crew.

Where's the gal with the AK? Always fun watching her drop it in the sand and just shake the sand out.

I shot an eland this morning, and we brought it back to camp.

We are having lunch and then head out again.

We do not take photos with the drones, ony videos.

And I extract frames from the videos to post.

Our crews are the same, only the game scouts change.

Saeed, I always wanted to ask - what do you do with all the trophies ? Surely you don't mount everything ???

Great fun watching your hunt. Thanks

I do not mount all the animals I shoot.

We use a lot of the leather, tanned.

I shot an old hippo bull, in the forest.

His skin is in total tatters!!

We have never seen anything like it before.

He even had maggots, and leeches on him!

Water shot a kongoni.

What about the leopard & croc?

Do you make crocodile leather & use it for luxury items like boots, belts, wallets, hand bags, suitcases??

Having seen the photos, I see what you mean and while they make for interesting viewing, also suggest that the animal was being eaten alive, "inside-out".

One of the main reasons for this to happen could be over exposure causing the hide to dehydrate and crack but with all the water available suggests otherwise.

Were there any visible signs of flesh decay after skinning or, given the condition of the hide not bother with the tedious and time-consuming effort?

I have never seen anything like it before; festering wounds aplenty but not the parting of the hide to the point of exposing flesh for blow flies to procreate on a live subject.

If anything you did him a favour by ending his misery.

The hippo was actually in good shape healthwise, apart from the terrible skin condition.

We left him in the forest as lion bait, and by this morning no one has found him.

Roy shot an impala today, and I shot a croc.

Saeed,

I thought you knew better!
How could you leave your rifle behind when wandering in the bush?
Next time you do that, you deserve to climb a tree.
If you go unarmed, at least take Walter along, to distract what ever is pursuing you.
Same principle as in this bear survival tip, keep slow runner between you and charging buffalo or lion, same as bear:

Yesterday we got beaten by buffalo.

Spent most of the day chasing them, and ended up with nothing.

Spent tie trying to shoot a sable, but again, conditions did not work for our favor.

Grass too high, and too much brush in the way, or a cow was on the way.

Walter did not fair any better either.

Those crocs and hyenas having a feeding frenzy in front of our camp were captured by a camera Maktoum set up.

We had a funny thing happen to us today.

We found a warthog in the grass, and all I could see was his head.

I aimed for where I assumed his chest is, and fired.

He tumbled and hen ran off into the bush.

We ran after him, and found him ling down behind a tree, but still alive.

We moved to the side to see him clearly to finish him off.

As soon as he saw us, he charged!

He could not move very fast, and I shot him in the head.

Just goes to show that wounded animals find the thickest bush to hide in.

Non of that bullshit some egoistic idiot puts out of buffalo lying in the open for him to set up his cameras to get his 5 minutes of self worship! rotflmo

Saeed,

Absolutely outstanding photos, once again. I love photos of the petrified wood amongst the others. You are great at capturing the beauty of of all aspects of the adventure.

I just got the DJI Mavic 2 pro drone. I’m hoping to capture some of the same on my adventures.

Looks forward to seeing more.

Will

Gentlemen,

Please do not send me questions about the safari by PM.

I am getting very similar questions from several people, and it is is difficult to answer them individually, due to lack of time.

I try to use whatever time I have in camp to prepare photos to post here

Please post your questions on this thread

What a great time to be in camp and hunting.

The Trophies are nice however the pictures are wonderful to look at. I am sure the videos will be uploaded shortly.

The moon photos, do you remember what your zoom settings was?

Looking at the Mavic 2 photos are clear very nice. In your estimation what is the battery life and distance you are obtaining?

Plus have you used the Nikon for many of your pictures that you have posted.

Yesterday I shot an impala, warthog and a bushbuck.

Walter did not fair so well.

Apparently there was a shortage of Walterable animals.

Moon shots were at 125X on the Nikon P1000.

As long as you have a good rest, photos are great from this camera.

Much better than from the P900.

We are using the Mavic Pro 2, both the Hasselblad model and the zoom model.

You can get approximately 20 odd minutes of video from each battery.

Maximum distances we have been flying is approximately 3,000 meters, maximum altitude is 500 meters.

Theoretically they say 31 minutes battery time, and 8,000 meters distance.

I suspect if you go 8000 metes you will not have enough battery to get back.

Extremely easy to operate, only person not allowed to fly them is Walter.

We only use them when we are not hunting.

Lie when we have a lunch break, or for specific scenery as we drive along and at camp .
