After two unsuccesful hunts I finally took a very nice leopard. He weighed in at 175lbs, 7ft 4 inches and the skull measured 16 1/8. Note the scars on this old boys face, he had been in a hell of a fight. Took him with hounds in the Mkosi area East of Bulawayo with Mark Element with Matupula Hunters. I was prepared for many days of hunting but after 8 miles of tracking I shot this one the morning of the first day. We had a great "leopard party" that night.

The leopard hounds were just a wee bit bigger but that little Jack Russell was a great tracker on the plains game.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

WOW!! Great kitty. I'm planning a buff hunt in 10 or '11. I was going for sable & buff, but then maybe buff & tuskless, but seeing all these nice cats here on AR I've just about talked myself into a buff & leopard hunt. Big Grin

That is a nice one!

Just wondering...If looking at spoor, can you tell the difference male vs female in leopard tracks, (other than size)?
