That's one video I don't think we'll see on the Disney channel. Take note of what's being said by the spectators in the background. There's giggling and laughter, then: "I hope he gets away!" (meaning the calf) which is saying: "Starve you bad kitty cats." A true testament of nature: kill or be killed. Awesome video Wendell, thanks for posting. LDK

That was insane video. First you think the buff's day goes from bad to worse when you have lions and a croc fighting over you while you're still alive.

As for when the reinforcements show up, I guess that's how Custer felt.

Best video I've seen. So much of what is shown on the nature channels is a parceled-together montage. This is the real deal in one unbroken clip. Absolutely incredible.

Awesome video! My guess is that the calf will not survive. He/she will either die of its wounds or will be crippled and easier lion bait the next time. Thanks for posting Wendell, sometimes you're OK. Wink

Personally, I think the calf may survive. They have real thick skins from early age and most of the "grip" of the croc would have been skin only. As for the lions, they tend to "suffocate" their prey by covering their muzzle with their mouth and just hold the prey down with their paws and claws. Just scratches. The young buff did not struggle much which would make the lions just "hold" as opposed to bite harder to try and kill it quickly. Once the herd closed in, the lions were just holding the calf down without any intense biting or clawing. The way it struggled free from the grasp of the remaining lioness, using its own strength and then ran - as opposed to stumbled -into the herd showed me it was not too badly injured.

Talk about living another day.....

Actually, I was rooting for the croc to drag one of the cats under.

I've always been a sucker for the underdog. Actually caught myself cheering out loud when the one feline went airborne courtesy of a hooked horn. Great footage.

Lions are the king of beasts. Now they (the pride) didn't have to work too hard to get this young buffalo down but they did work for it getting it away from the crocs and then to loose it over some P. O. buffs. Morale of the story - don't count your chickens before they are hatched.
