I know not everyone likes face book but I started a hunting group that is private. It is called world wide hunting adventures and is 100% free. Have hunters and outfitters and is slowly growing. If anyone would like to join please just request and invite and I will let you join in. Very happy with how it is going so far. It is not just africa but hunts any place in the world.

As of now I am limiting outfitters and agent till the page grows. I want this page to be more hunters then outfitters. It cover way more then africa so there will be limits there also. If your not approved right away it is more then likely I am at the limit I want at the time. so it could be a few weeks or month before some guys get approved.

Not if you don't give them any personal data. I have people wish me happy birthday every Dec 12th even though I listed my DOB as 12/12/12 lol

I don't do Facebook....never will. You may not think you are putting info in there, but it tracks everything you do or look at and your conversations with others and the sites you visit, groups, etc.

Our daughter is on it and, as she said, funny thing is when she looks at an add or a site about lawn tractors...suddenly her facebook page is surrounded by adds for them and from dealers and stores that are in the general area she lives in.

To escape the snooping and mining completely you have to avoid the internet...which sadly is not an option for most these days.

Totally agree. it is not as bad as what some think. My group is private to members only of the page.

I have a special for australia that is only on my page and is a deal as good as I have seen. It was only offered to me over facebook for the page. I see it as a win to get hunters together

It seems to be a very solid group and essentially no trolls. Just lots of hunt salesmen looking to sell hunts. But that’s the whole of the Internet I suppose.

FB certainly has its uses. Joyce's page was all but dormant until her first cancer in 2013-4. I took it over and used it to keep friends and relatives updated so I didn't have to tell the same info to everyone individually.

Now we use it to keep in touch with folks that may otherwise fall to the wayside as well as dragging people along on our travels and adventures. Lots of those friends don't have the means or guts to go on some of those adventures so they come along vicariously.

The "user groups" are very useful for reasons you have pointed out Steve. One called "driving the AlCan" is indispensable to us as far as getting realtime road conditions, weather, and boondock suggestions. Very useful since we drive that long stretch twice every other year.

On a side note. Sorry we missed you while out on the Carefree Highway Nomadland this year.
