I agree with Jim.

We really don't need the negativity.

What's more, with this kind of backbiting on legal and moral hunts, the righteous outrage when something really immoral happens is seen as less universal.

Each of us tries to live life to our own code. We don't need to make everyone else live up to our own.

amen Frostbit!. the holier than though attitude of some posters here is just ming boggling. of course i suppose they are entitled to their opinion as i am sure that they hunt in loin cloth with a spear in the middle of the Serengeti plain. small wonder people hesitate to post hunt reports when you know some jackass is going to go through them line by line and pick them apart.

Two more fine examples of how to piss on someone's hunt offer you have no interest in.

I agree with Frostbit, I was just reading a hunt posting and guys just couldn't help piling on with their opinions. I think it's fine to discuss stuff, hell many members only come here to argue and be dicks. I think that the hunts for sale and the hunt reports are the exception. Both of them end up just bringing down the entire thing.

I remember reading a thread where somebody posted about their lion hunt and were just completely harpooned over it. I felt sorry for them. It was the one with the young lion. It's like every asshole and their prick cousin came out of the wood work. If that kind of thing goes on less people are going to post hunt reports. who does that hurt? potential hunters trying to research.

Some people just desperately need to believe that their opinions matter and want everybody to be forced to read them. It would be great to have the hunt reports get locked after posting. They may not get positive comments but might save some poor guy that just had a fantastic time from having somebody s*#t on his snowcone.

It's just not right pissing on someone's report or hunt offer.

Which is precisely why I have not posted one single hunt report on this sight after a half dozen African hunts and countless North American hunts in last decade while I've been a member on this site.

Just to many bwanabes, trolls and A-holes inhabiting AR for me to waste my time sharing something that is important to me with the riff raff on AR.

Of course the majority of folks here are good people but the minority who are not and the total lack of meaningful moderation makes it so there is no recourse against these few who get their rocks off by disparaging the good guys.

I am just not interested in playing under those rules.

I mean holy crap how long did it take for carmello to get booted?

I'll keep writing mine. There is no way I'm going to let an extremely small minority and their opinion change how I feel about my own hunt.

I won't let the jerks keep me from posting my reports, there are too many good people on AR that I want to share with.
Plus it would give me a chance to put more A-Holes on my ignore list.

JTEX-- I can't accept the premise that when someone is "up front" about their intention to enagage in reprehensible behavior excuses the behavior.

Bossie-- If you are willing to publicly announce your intention to pimp out pen raised animals in return for money, be prepared to be called a pimp.

Internet advertisement of canned hunts hurt true sportsmen worldwide. Justifying the practice with the disclaimer that the impossibly corrupt government currently in place in South Africa sanctions that activity is a joke.

Just so the rest of us can tell if we live up to your definition of a non-prostitution style of hunting I would request some clarification.

1) Is it OK to shoot Pidgeons released from cages?

2) OK to "hunt" released Pheasant and Quail?

3) How about fishing for all those fine put & take trout in Pennsylvania?

4) Alright for school kids to learn to icefish up here in a program sponsored by the AK Fish & Game where they release landlocked Salmon into a lake to be causght through the ice?

I've killed a Lion that was free ranging and wild. I wouldn't choose to hunt one that was pen raised and released but I also would not have the self rightousness to call out someone else for it simply because I didn't want to do it.

As far as it being a drop kick I suggest you look at the "ugly hunt" thread in the hunt reports. Perhaps you want to go and piss on his hunt report since you seem to believe you are speaking for all "true sportsman worldwide".

Original post quoted here came fron this thread in the offered hunt section.

Then most likely Anton, you and I both will never take part. I still eat chickens that are raised in worse conditions and I even pay someone else to kill them. Not gonna make me a Vegan nor do I want a Vegan telling me what I can and can not do.

Not the best of examples but I think you get my point.

I also noticed you did not post on the actual offered hunt thread. Bravo

Cheers
Jim

well at least here in Sweden you can buy food that is guaranteed not have lived in small cages etc.Hell I take pride in eating animals that have lived a good life, and they taste sooo much better.. I agree with you Jim with not to mess with ones reports/hunt offerings. but I have a hard time watching these "hunts" be classified as OK..A few years ago it was almost over for this shit shooting practice, but the government decided to list the lion as NOT dangerous or something like that just to bend the rules and gettin more money from the breeders.

Is it just because RSA says its ok ? If its only because of what a corrupt gov says is OK...well I say shame on us all again for letting this continue

I'm with you Dennis. Not sure about the sick part but at least you didn't spew all over someones hunt report or offered/discounted hunt because of how you felt about it.

Cheers

To me the fence is irrelevant. The point is does the SAVE offer fair chase hunting and I believe it does.

To your original topic as others have suggested perhaps a little more tweaking of the rules for posting a hunt offering should be implemented. I personally have left out details on a hunt that I should have known, included and I apologized for that. I was not intentionally being deceptive but I was in a hurry to put something up and was not careful enough. So I would be more than happy to include more mandatory details. What I object to is the bashing an individual may get because their hunt offering does not fit someone's idea of an ethical hunt or they feel the hunt is too expensive etc. Saeed's philosophy is that if it is legal you can post it. I think all legitimate questions about who, what, where should be addressed by the one offering the hunt but these threads on a hunt that go off into space about whether high fence, low fence, no fence, put and take, naturally breeding etc constutute real hunting seems out of place to me on the Offered and Discounted Hunt forum.

As for the bashing of an individual's hunt report I just find that to be in extremely poor taste. When a bunch of people tell an individual that their hunt was shit when they are obviously quite excited about their experience is just not necessary. This bashing has made me rethink what I personally will include in future hunt reports. Over the last year or so several posters here have said to me "Why would I ever post a hunt report on AR".

Mark

While I agree that a pissing match is not nice, I find a lot worse happens on most forums including AR.

How about stopping all the hate talk about Africans while wanting to hunt Africa? How about stopping the colonial bigotry that some express? How about stopping the one eyed political crap blaming Obama for everything?

I find this kind of nonsense far more offensive than some challenging questions & discussion on a hunt report or a hunt offer that do have some merit.

Now just a second .... while I get into the bunker ..... Big Grin
