Is Stu the PH that was shot by CB's daughter or was he mauled my a Buffalo? Glad to hear that he's OK!
|

He was shot by a client. It was not CB's daughter.

Thanks Larry! Now I remember...CB's daughter shot a tracker.

Stu took his first client in August. He was hunting in Block C of the Niassa

Come on Larry why not be more specific? for the record: Stu Taylor was shot by walking disaster celebrity hunter Tim Herald. ..Due to the fact that TH was irresponsible & careless in double whammy fashion- i.e.;-running blindly backwards AND having his finger On-trigger while oFF-target. In any sensible rational mind, such a compound act of stupidity would be considered a NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE. and the way some AR members berated Stu Taylor for seeking legal guidance after such an incident, is just utterly shameful.

I am not sure who you are, as you post anonymously. But can you at least confirm whether you are an experienced dangerous game hunter, who has stood his ground in the face of many charges, or maybe at least just one? I could be wrong, but somehow, I doubt that you are. Stu has made an amazing comeback, and I again celebrate that incontrovertible fact. Good for Stu! Mike Wilderness is my cathedral, and hunting is my prayer.

MR, get with the picture, it was a NEGLIGENT DISCHARGE by Tim Herald. everybody is responsible for their negligent actions be it in a motor vehicle, aircraft, running machinery or using a firearm. Hunters get no exemption. If a person cannot demonstrate or maintain the priority of required gun safety practices be it at; a range , duck hunting, or DG hunting, he has no business being there and posing a danger to people and property. ..and i don't give rats ass whether he makes his living from making hunting shows or not.

What is Africa some alternate universe?.. Get a grip for christs sake,.It don't matter where you are as recreational hunter with a firearm ,Africa, USA , choose any location or country, ones obligations and responsibilities are the same to the people and property around you. Running blindly backwards and not being off-trigger while oFF-target- are both blatantly negligent & stupid acts with a firearm anywhere in the hunting world. If a person cannot maintain safe gun control under the pressure of DG hunting, its clearly not their arena!

Trax, I"ll be polite, please shut up once in awhile. We all are negligent at times, be it car, gun, water hose, power tool... End good, all good. Stu survived, lived another day, working again. We, the hunter fraternity are all extremely happy for Stu. The saying " who goes around, comes around " applies here so careful Trax. We are all very happy he is making a good recovery, and wish him all the best. No one deserves what happened to him. But, accidents happen. Not just in hunting situations, but in our every day activities.

Just fking amazing this place AR, people bash the crap out of SCI and Mr.Sullivan time and time again yr after yr, and none of them don't done anything half as stupid/wreckless/dangerous/disasterous as an inept Tim Herald shooting his PH, but on Tim Herald we need to be quite for some reason, how hypocritical and selective some people like to be.

any amount of posts on AR is infinitely superior to having shot one PH. But please keep defending such blatantly wreckless irresponsible and inept actions with a firearm. Its a very sad day when a celebrity high profile hunter lapses in mind to the extent that he puts firearm safety at less than strictly No:1 priority....gravely injuring/near killing a man in the process. these sensible rational minded comments from another website forum: "I agree that this is a negligent discharge caused by careless operation of a firearm and the circumstance of a charging buffalo neither explains nor excuses that. When hunting dangerous game, a hunter has to assume there will be risky situations and be mentally prepared to handle them without losing control on his weapon" "Tim is obviously no professional" "not an accident I have been hunting and training novices for 46 years and the no 1 safety rule is never point a weapon of any kind at a person." "The thing that struck me was after the incident, how many times Mr. Herald’s rifle is still pointed at someone." Regular bad/unsafe firearm handling habits are no accident, its simply a case of perpetuated incompetence and carelessness on the individuals part, ..which leads to disaster or tragedy.

I did not see this on the other forum, is it accurate? Either way, best to Stu Taylor and his family.
Wow, car, gun, water hose, power tool? End good, all good? I would say I am speechless, but then I would be a liar. This mentality and ones like it on this forum is what left some members screaming for some sanity, praying that "men" they thought they knew were more substantive and caring than this. The degree to which some of you are willing to discredit yourselves is inexplicable.

Whatever his personal circumstances or experience, the factual nature of Trax's statements regarding the shooting of Mr. Taylor are irrefutable. The shooter had a gun off safety, his finger on the trigger, and while falling did not control muzzle directions. An accident? Of course. Preventable? Absolutely. Remove any of the 3 above ingredients and the wounding would not have occurred. It is very good news that Mr. Taylor is apparently going to be able to be a fully licensed PH again. xxxxxxxxxx When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere. NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR. I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.

BoarKiller, if a police officer ever shot a member of your family through gross negligent discharge, or doctor ever caused serious harm to a member of your family through gross negligent practice or a vehicle driver through gross negligence -knocked-down a family member causing serious harm, would you be the same casual relaxed good cheer attitude about it all as you are with Stu Taylor being seriously harmed through gross negligence of another?.....I seriously doubt it.

Dangerous game is now the cause for Tim Heralds gross inept gun handling? So now its the buffaloes fault.... Graham, your really are a silly backward tropical-zone hillbilly. "When hunting dangerous game, a hunter has to assume there will be risky situations and be mentally prepared to handle them without losing control on his weapon" Tim Herald was clearly not capable or prepared for a situation arising in DG hunting, and due to his compounding acts of carelessness he damn near killed his PH in the process. "The thing that struck me was after the incident, how many times Mr. Herald’s rifle is still pointed at someone." people like TH who are more engrossed in themselves & the camera, seem to let the critical responsibilities entailed when handling a firearm, slip by the wayside.

I just speak from experience - unlike yourself. I actually guided Tim Herald for a week last year and of course his firearm safety was fine. Tim has publicly discussed what happened in Africa. Only anonymous jerks like yourself still having a shot at him. Look at me, breaking my own rules and engaging AR's #1 troll. I don't know iether of those involved but full marks to Stu for his comeback, well done indeed. No arguing TH was negligent and F'd up, but why bring that up in a thread on Stu's returning to his job?

Simply because he's firkin lucky to still be around, let alone overcoming all the hurdles (psychological & physical) and getting himself back into the game.
