All:

Are there any quality African titles "on tape"?

A dear friend has just lost most of what was left of his vision and I hope to find some books on tape to help him out.

Thanks all,

Will J. Parks, III

There aren't many but "Where Lions Roar" by Boddington and "Wanderings of an Elephant Hunter" by Bell are two I've enjoyed.

If you're into fiction, Wilbur Smith has a few good ones on tape. Some of his writing is a little too fluffy, but overall I like it.

If he's into African history search on 'Day Of The Dead Moon' by Rattray.

It's not cheap but is very long & fantastically interesting & entertaining!

I'll follow Mike's lead and send Finn Aagard's "On Kenya" CD book for a long term loan as well. Just PM me your mailing address.

Thanks, all.

The generosity of AR astounds and abounds.

My address is:

Will Parks
107 East Laurel St.
Scottsboro, AL 35768

I will be certain to return all loaned CDs to their rightful owners.

I talked to my friend last night and related that some audio books were on the way and he said, "Tell those young guys thank you from an old African safari hunter."

Thanks to everyone who sent CDs, well wishes and the like. Unfortunately, the news is all bad. Vision limited to +/- four feet. No more hunting, no more driving.

That said, Tom's attitude is great. He's been there and done that. He has the mental images and the memories of safaris with John Kingsley Heath, Willie Englebrich, and other hunters of note from the Safari South days in Botswana and a life well lived scouring the globe in pursuit of wild places and wild things.

Better days

A little deviation here but how many hunters own a Kindle or an iPad?
There are currently only around 1,000 titles on Amazon for Kindle that deal with hunting (Mine is one..hint hint).
Do hunters not have these devices or are we slow in giving hunters what they want via device reading.

Mine is another but I have to say I don't mind getting low sales on Kindle because they snatch such a large percentage & leave you virtually nothing....... you also have to keep looking for other sellers offering your product at a greatly inflated price. What they do isn't illegal so Amazon allow it but it doesn't help the author's reputation any. Confused

I haven't listened to it yet, but I recently downloaded "White Hunters" by Brian Herne from Audible Books. The reviews look promising.

Will,

I might be able to get him onto a buff within 4 feet?

Will be fun trying.
