Steve, your posts show you have quite an inquiring mind, my congratulations thumb !!!!

The Yaganes are said to be completely exinguished nowadays... Out of the five diferent nations that lived in Tierra del Fuego (the Tehuelches or Aonikenk, the Selk'nam or Onas, the Haush or Manekenk, the Alakaluf or Kaweskar and the Yamana or Yagan) they were the shortest af them all (something around 5 feet tall) and in fact they were the ones who lived far south and in the worst weather conditions... since they spent most of their lives fishing from their canoes (they were extremely good sailors and fishermen !) they had powerfull torso, arms and shoulders, but their legs were quite weak, in fact they walked in a rather clumsy and feeble way ...

Read somewhere that they kept a small fire burning in their canoes to keep warm. As these pics show they wore few clothes.

Would like to visit Isla Navarino some day.

That's true !!

They used to keep a small fire in their canoes (on a sand plataform) since with out any source of heath the risk of freezing was high ... they were people that could stand cold freezing weather muuuuch better than most of us, but these pictures (the ones who showed them naked or with bare clothes) were surely taken in "summer" time ... some other pics show them covered with furs

The ones of the picture I m quite sure are of guanaco... certainly some of their clothes were made from furs of guanacos, but mainly of sea creatures as sea lions (fur seals)

These people spend most of their time at sea, in fact their whole way of life was closely related to the sea
