I think this is a Rhamnus caroliniana or Indian cherry. There is no thorn at the end of any of the branches. Leaves turn red in fall. Fruit turns from red to black as it ripens.

doesnt look like buckthorn.I have pictures of buckthorn,and they dont look the same.
