Can the CZ 589 Stopper 458 Win Mag over under be converted to 450 nitro 3 1/4"???

they have been converted to Lott and I was wondering why not the 450 3 1/4"???

because ...

there's NO IMPROVEMENT for a 450 3 1/4 over a 458 winmag, that a lott doesn't provide at 20% of the cost

It is my understanding is that it is done all the time. Obviously the extractors/ejectors have to be cut for the 450 case head.

its not, in fact, can't be done "all the time" .. there are SEVEN of them in the states. I have handled 4 of them. 1 was converted to a lott (rob) one is still a 458, but thinking about it (mike) and two others i only got to handle, but are still 458.

the other 3 are outside of my experience, but i saw one on gunbroker the other day still in 458 win ...

what IS done, with small freqency, is converting 45/70 sxs pedersoli kodiaks to 450 ne

I think Will meant that .458WM doubles, both SxS and O/U, that have been conveted to one of the nitro express rounds seem to show up regularly, not that the CZ in particular does.

Might be.. sure, there's some 45/70 peds being turned into 450 NE...

but none of that has any bearing on the CZ ou 458 winmag Smiler

What is different about the CZ O/U than the other O/Us that have been converted? You have the benefit of having seen one and I have not.

Does BS have a new O/U to convert, or is this a hypothetical exercise?

From Champlin's site (Franz Sodia .458 O/U):

quote:
Here is a piece of equipment ready for your commitment to have our shop rechamber it to a 450 3 1/4" Nitro Express. We have done it many times before with excellent results and have found the value appreciates accordingly.

Maybe BS can call them or email and ask their opinion if no one here has the answer he needs.
