I think you should address this subject with a barrel maker.

boomie, what's a bridge cal .... is that like a .311 groove cut into a .308 broove, there is overlaps.

anyway, to cut a barrel, they must order a drill, and if they don't have the drill, it's not cheap... and if they don't have drill, they probably don't have the button ... again, not cheap...

I'm afraid I don't know what a "bridge caliber" is either. If you provide more details it would be possible to make a guess. What groove diameter, bore diameter, twist rate, number and width of grooves, stainless steel or not, that sort of thing. The single point cut method of rifling provides greater flexibility than the button method. It might be easier than you think, it all depends on the specs you require.

specificly a bridge cal is one inbetween other comercial cals...this one bridging the gap between the .375 and the 416/411 the cal is .395

the difference is like going from 358 to 375.

personaly i think it will be perfect for the 30-06 case.

thanks...

oh, it's not a bridge caliber...

it's a new bore size.

at least 600 bucks in parts to get you there.. and a friendly barrel maker to work with you

Boomstick....whatever you're smoking.....can I have some too?

Actually I was thinking the perfect bore size for the 30-06 case was 338 diameter!!

are you making your own bullets? i don't think i know of a bullet that diameter off the top of my head. casting? i would think finding a bullet with a close diameter and using it would be an easier solution. but you never said you wanted easy, so it could be a fun project!

If you really wanted to do this, it is possible to enlarge a bore to any oddball size with the cutter head that Cliff LaBounty developed to re-bore double rifles. After cutting the grooves to the required depth, the head rides on the lands and cuts them down to their required tolerance. It is a slow process of cutting about a ten-thou each pass 'til you get there. I would not even approach Jim DuBell about it without $1000 in my hand to prove I was serious. Even then, it might more of a PIA than anyone would want to deal with.

For the price of the bore job, chambering job, custom dies, and custom bullet tooling, you could pay for a nice hunt.

I understand the flow of creative juices, but once in awhile we need to step back and think about just what we are trying to achieve.
