I got a 4GB SD card for my Canon elph, took a lot of pictures over 3 weeks in Mozambique, but my computer won't open the card. The card shows the picts on the camera digital screen, and the compeuter opens 2GB and smaller cards, but it won't open the 4GB.
Is there a way to transfer the photos from the 4Gb card to smaller cards, or a trick to get the computer to open the larger card?

Are you just putting the card into a slot on your computer?

Have you tried hooking the camera up to your computer using the USB cable? I'd try that first.

for every hour in front of the computer you should have 3 hours outside

Get yourself an SDHC card reader.

They read cards up to 32 GB.

I normally install one of these in each of our computers. Makes life so much easier.

I have one and the computer treats it like a USB hard drive. Works really well with 4GB cards that I have.

Something to bear in mind abour SD cards.

There are standard CD cards, that go up to 2Gb.
SDHC that go up to 32 GB.
SDXC cards that can go up to 2Tb.!

The SD and SDHC can be read on computers that have a 32 bit operating system.

The SDXC can opnly be read on computers that have a 64 bit system.

There is a go around this, in that one can connect the camera that takes SDXC cards to the USB of a 32 bit system and read the files.

Built in card readers in computersw will only read and write SDXC cards if they have a 64 bit operating system.
