I have a question about the numbers of members and guests on the site. Just now 29 members and 1700 guest. Are those true numbers. Been noticing numbers as large as 2300 guest on the site at times. What gives. Good Shooting. phurley

Thanks Saeed for the response, I realize how it works, I had never noticed the higher numbers of guests before. Noticed for years that 200 to 300 guest before, but recently the numbers had jumped to 1,700 up to 2300 plus and wondered why. Glad those numbers are observing our questions and responses but to see those higher numbers was revealing indeed. Good Shooting. phurley

. Saeed good day. Is one / are you able to see the geography of the guests ? I'm not an IT expert so no idea as to whether you can see where people are logging on from. . "Up the ladders and down the snakes!"

We can see the ip address. And if we look at each individual one we can tell where from they are logging. But looking at all and finding out from where is not possible. This is for normal users. If anyone is using a VPN, then we only get the VPN ip address, which could be misleading. A while back I did try to see the geography of where people are logged in. Sweden and the US were quite high in numbers. Others were scattered all over the world. Including one logged in from a very remote island in the pacific!

I am very pleased with the huge numbers of guests reading our input on all we talk about on here, but still utterly amazed at the numbers from 300 up to 3400 each day. Our member numbers were higher in the past and will probably pick up with hunting seasons opening up soon. The knowledge passed on on this site is outstanding, let it continue. Thanks Saeed for the sponsorship. Good Shooting. phurley

There are currently 22 member(s) and 4766 guest(s) on the forums. Quite a few tonight. Don

There are 6208 "guests" on the forum tonight! I have an alternate theory on these "guests". Bot traffic has exploded: "Bots now account for nearly half of all internet traffic globally, with so-called “bad bots” responsible for a third." according to this article. Supposedly, multiple AI companies are ignoring the standard protocol used to block scraping of websites. See here. Or maybe there really are 6008 guests tonight! The guest numbers went from 300 this morning to 7100 in a three hour period, just makes me wonder about those figures. Not saying they are wrong and hope all those 7100 are people like us just wanting to know more about reloading and hunting with those reloads. Just saying. Good Shooting. phurley

You may be right there. We have in our header code that limits search engines, but BOTs can get in (they can't post though). We get our share of people who register and immediately fill the PF. More than a few have been traced to Eastern EU and Russia. Don

Well, supposedly the bots are scraping content to train large language models, and the companies are ignoring your header code. Interesting world we live in.
