Hope ya kill more than we have here in the interior. Been awful hot, 65-70 degrees along the upper Yukon; no waking up to snow this year. Bulls ain't moving like they do when it's colder. Here in Eagle, only 2 moose have been killed; last year at this time; over 30 bulls were taken. Worst season since 1978, long time locals claim. I've seen quite a few cows, bulls haven't started gathering them up yet from what I see. Our season ends on sat, but continues down river, so all hope is not lost. Just seems so strange not seeing bulls running everywhere this time of year. I have seen grizz at 200 yards and wolves way off, but didn't want to shoot and spook any moose I was waiting on. Attempting to kill a bull with 6.8 SPC this year. I have seen many killed with 243's, so why not 6.8?

Weather will be better where you will be at and I'm sure the guide has some bulls located for ya. Have a great time and remember fresh meat is a good thing.

I recieved word from a friend today that 505 whacked a monster sometime yesterday evening. They should be working on packing out Nyama all day today. I would imagine he will sat call me sometime today to rub my nose in it. Will give you some more details when I know something. When he returns in October I am sure he will post a good report with pics.

That probably would have been easier. I watched this bull for 3 days and knew he was better than any of the other moose we had seen or chased. He was staying in a 300-400yd area with a cow about 4 miles away. Jessie kept bitching at me to stop looking at him because there was a nasty river between him and us that could not be crossed. Finally on the 4th day I couldn't take it anymore, I told Jessie I was going and at least try. 2 hours later after busting ass through two of the nastiest alder and willow infested creek bottoms as well as 500 yds of thick alder infested river bottom, 4 feet of freezing cold glacier run off, we were at the bottom of the mountain he was on the side of. 2 hours later he was dead and we were carving him up on the side of a mountain. What a hunt. tu2

Will,
The wolf hunt fell apart because I shot my moose somewhere that I couldn't sit over the carcass. We hunted wolf for 4 days but the only wolves we saw were 1-2 miles away. Then sat in Cordova for the first 4 days of the goat hunt in the blowing rain (I didn't agree with this). Outfitter said the seas were to rough to get us to base camp in the boat. Finally paid $450 to fly out to base camp in a float plane. Sat in base camp in the rain for next 3 days (I didn't agree with this either). Day 7, weather lightened, asked if we were moving on the goats we found in the glass from camp, informed that he had just enough fuel to make a fuel run to Cordova and was going to do that instead. Had a belly full and went back to Cordova early and came home. My brother stuck it out and went up on the mountain the next day (in the rain), and killed a nice billy. Got stuck on the mountain that night and came down the next day. They shot the only goat they saw, don't know if I would have gotten to shoot at a goat or not had I gone with them, but my hat is off to him for staying focused and sticking with it to the end.

Goat hunting is like that. During my 22 years in Alaska I heard more horror stories about weather and goat hunts than all the other species hunted put together. Call me about a boat hunt sometime. If you shoot well you'll get a goat.

So it goes. That moose, however, was well worth the trip.

Am I putting together that Ben is your brother and that he is the same guy that shot that big, wide buff in the Save a couple of months ago?

And how did the rest of your hunt pan out...? Something about quitting and not getting up the mountain?

And you are right about your gear - was Bubba's Bait Shop and Tuxedo Rentals having a sale?

Hey Jack,
Since you obviously know what happened on the moose hunt and why I brought attention to what it required physically, why don't you share it with the rest of the group......Oh, that's right, you do not know one single fact about what went into the hunt or why we "watched" this bull for 3 days.
Now that we cleared that up, why don't you share the facts as to why I left the goat hunt without a goat. Oops, once again, you know nothing about that hunt either.
Have you ever heard the saying that even a fool may appear wise if he keeps his mouth shut. You have proven that you are a complete moron.

Brad, I really couldn't care less why you quit on your goat hunt. Nor that you drama queen your one day moose stalk into a heroic epic.

It just rubs me the wrong way when you toss out that "soft" line onto someone else's jungle hunt, which by the way sounds a bit tougher bustin through willows for a half day.

Guess what Jack, I'm ugly as well, wanna add that to your fat jokes? How old are you? You act like you are in middle school. As for the one day hunt statement, the only thing I have seen you post about your hunts on this site was a day hunt where you paid a fortune to go shoot a sheep that was trapped on an island mountain in a sea of flat desert in Mexico. I don't know this, but from what you have shown, you are a candy ass SOFT elitist.

Jack, how old are you? It would benefit you to go back to the Cameroon thread and read slowly. You might notice that 505 was trying to put to rest a misconception about western hunters. That would include you, unless you have gotten so self-righteous that you believe California is more like a western relocated Moscow and you rest comfortably above the other peasants. Roll Eyes Wash the sand out of your vagina and realise who your team mates are.
