L. David KeithThose that have no clue about hunting I would guess. Probably another anti busy at something they are ignorant about presuming illuminated reticles are for use on sniper rifles for night hunting saber toothed grasshoppers. I'm sure they have zero knowledge of Leopard hunting, predator control or low light conditions. Find out who's idea it was so we can write them a bazillion letters. LDK

as long as it does not project a lite or beam it is just fine. As in Holo Sites & Illuminated Reticle's are all good

SGraves155It seems to me that my illuminated reticle makes it HARDER to see the target in very dim light. I don't use it anymore. Anybody else have this experience? (mine is passive fluorescent--a light must be shown into the scope for a minute or so before it is bright enough to use)
I use the Trijicon Accupoint scopes and they have the tritium illuminated reticle but I've never had it seem too bright.....super in low light......
tsturm is correct, illegal only if it projects light.

To get the best out of an illuminated reticle it must be adjustable to the light conditions.
My favorite are the Swarovski and S&B that are bright enough for daytime use yet adjust down to be used in darkness.
I have found even in the middle of the day in heavy cover, looking for a black animal in a dark hole the illuminated reticle is a big plus.
Also for running game in daylight on low power your scope can function like a red dot sight.

gumboot458..With the red dot in my Burris Sig 1.5-6 I found that too much intensity at dawn and dusk would cover too much of the target at mid to farther out distances ........I played around with alot sighting at rocks on the beach ...with the 3-6 " dia rocks of lighter color the red dot didn,t help much with the bigger black or very dark gray rocks it helped alot more but on its lowest setting.......But on game it is great during the day and in low light ........Thanks for checking on this tstrum,.,....It didn,t make sense to me that ADF&G would do that ...............I see the E Wako,s are sueing the state again ofer killing wolves.....................Liberal bullies is what they are...........do it their ways or they will sue..........Hopefully they will loose this case and the state will increase the incentave bonus !!!!!!!!!!!!

OR maybe just spouting off by those who have no clue what they're talking about.
Here's your clue -- the regs are posted on the ADF&G website...all you have to do is go read them. Would have taken you less time than to generate this drivel.
If you don't like our regulations...move here and vote!

chazgreenWill take my Mueller 2-7 with lighted reticle to AK for Black Bear hunt shortly. Hunting at last light here in Michigan in heavy woods is when the big bucks slip out of cover; the reticle gives me a cleaner shot at vitals and a cleaner, swift kill. I figure Black bear at last light, black hide, black reticle means I pass up the shot if I cannot make that sure, clean kill. The scope comes with ten (10) different light intensity adjustments so that the reticle doesn't become too bright for hunting conditions. Will try to memember to let you all know how it works out/ Chaz

MuskegManI believe Zeiss is making a scope with a built-in laser range finder too.
Pretty soon, night vision will be legal and you'll have heat-seeking bullets.

tom ga hunterMy big field rifle hAS had a Leupold varix111 3.5x10 ill. It works great in low light situations. The trick is to keep the crosshair's at the lowest power sitting for the conditions. I think the light has 12 sittings & mine stays on 3 most of the time. This was a gift & is the only illuminated scope I've ever used.
