Place: Quini Malal, La Pampa Argentina
Outfitter: Eugenio Lutz
Guide: Patricio Lutz

As every year I went there following the red stag roaring. There is something magic about hunting this magnificent animals in thick brush. Hearing them roaring at 30 yards and not being able to see them is unique.

I took a custom 30-06 mauser Obendorf scoped with a S&B 3-12x50 with illuminated reticle that was of great help to pick the shots through the thick vegetation.

I was able to shot two "15" and one "13". But I also missed THREE shots to a very nice "13", maybe the biggest of all the stags I saw. I will dream with him till next season...

I want to say that one of the highlights of this trip was share some time with SBT and his wife. Also I had the pleasure to meet AR member John and his friends from Texas that arrived the day after Scott leaved.

Scott hunted a magnificent stag !! Everyone was happy at camp and that night we have lamb and beers to celebrate !!!

Here are my stags, a pity I didn't take pictures of the sorroundings but I have been so many times there...and I don't thought I was going to write a report about my hunt so excuse me for so few pictures.

The camp

My tent

The first "15"

The "13"

The VERY old "15"

One can never stop admiring these magnificent animals, the heat, the endless walking through thorns, and all the hard work we put on these hunts, makes these trophies very special.

Lorenzo, does anybody bowhunt the stags? Is it legal and possible? The terrain (thorn bush)looks like there would be a chance to get close!

Yes its legal and possible but VERY difficult because each stag is "protected" by several dows.

Thanks my friend !!

But to be honest and looking back...I should have pass on the "13"...it was still young. I hope to become a better hunter and learn to avoid shooting when the animal is not really old.

Maybe next rut....

Hi everyone! I'm Patricio Lutz from La Pampa, Argentina.
SBT and Lorenzo recommended me this forum, and I´m not regret having entered. It is full of stories and new hunts for me!
It was an unforgettable roaring, good hunting, good trophies and new friends.
It was a pleasure to share another rut with Lorenzo and meet SBT and his wife Pam.
Lorenzo, congratulations again!
Sorry for my English!

Regards,

Pampa

Hola Pampa !!!!!

Nice to see you here !!! It's increadible all the info we have here !! Look at the African hunt forum, the American, Canadian, Asian forum !!!!

Big bore, medium bore, small bore, reloading, etc, etc there is nothing like this in the internet !!!

Stay away from any discussion. Just share your experience with those travelling here or that just want to learn about hunting down here.

For your info "Scruffy" is our friend Richard.
