L. David KeithHey John,
Something tells me they are horns from a domestic Barbaroussa ram and not Argali. I could be wrong but the only way to be 100% would be to have dna testing done. What do you think? Good hunting, David

No, I have worked on hundreds of Barbados and this is not a Barbados ram. Taking into account the length, circumference, flare and growth rings I feel it is an Argali (Marco Polo?,Stumberg ?). There is a Argali cross in Texas called Stumberg Sheep.
Stumberg Sheep (Ovis musimon x Ovis ammon) - In 1969, the owner of the Patio Ranch took 5 European mouflon ewes to a facility in Oklahoma that had a lone argali ram with no females. Five offspring were born the following winter. The females of those offspring were returned to the same facility the next year and bred back to their father. The progeny of that male and these mouflon ewes were the start of the hybrid sheep herd on the Patio Ranch. A number of years later, a member of the hunting community in Texas coined the term “Stumberg Sheep†to name these hybrids and the term took hold. The argali sheep are the largest of the world’s wild sheep. The hybrids have coloration very similar to European mouflon, but have much larger bodies and greater horn size reflecting the argali influence. The largest ram to date is over 45†on the curl with bases of over 12â€.

L. David KeithHi John, I remember the Stumberg's as I became a scorer for Thompson Temples Records of Exotics years ago. However, I've only seen pictures of them and never examimed one. Could be an Argali but I've dealt with a number of "old slicks" on Ebay for years and they always seem to never know what they're selling, yet $500 seems a little high for "sheep horns" from the unknowing. The largest Barbaroussa I ever mounted was just over 42 inches and was 2.5 curls. You could be on the money but caveat emptor to anyone that buys them. It's amazing what shows up on Ebay. Keep us posted on the selling price. Anyone got an extra Argali cape for sale

Good hunting, David

D99Just saw this.
I would hesitate to say they are Argali. I have seen "barbirousa" Rambouillet (domestic wool breed from France) rams with horns that size, and they are fairly light colored.
I guess they could be Argali horns, but the odds are super slim.
Maybe?
