kibokolambogoI would side with Wendell on the likelihood of medication (we wouldn't want a $100G buffalo to get infested with weevils) - I've messed about with enough buffalo in my life to know that they don't submerge their heads while drinking...maybe so if they have a mud-bath but then it would no longer be dribbles on certain parts of the horns as the photos posted by John Hunt clearly show.

The liquid is hair dye. The picture was taken before the hairstylist could finish his job.
Next time wait for him to blow dry before taking the pic.

Adrian ParhamIf I had the funds to justify a 100k trophy fee for one animal that fellow would be in my back pasture already just to look at. The cape buff is my favorite african animal by far and this is one of the best 5 or so that I've ever seen a picture of. A Dr. Ball took a really good one (53) with great drop etc. a few years back. That hunt is not too different from some S. African game farm hunts but still not the best scenario.
My favorite all time hunt is a wilderness hunt in the rockies for bull elk during the rut.

h kittleI believe Dr. Ball is in the Jackson, Ms. area. My son-in-law used to call on him when he was working for one the drug companies. I remember the story being written up the the Clarion Ledger newspaper. It was quite a buff.

Appears that someone shot a pen raised bull. Jeez you can see the boma behind him. Nothing against the bull, he is great. But killing a bull in a pen isn't hunting, it's just killing for a fee, so please don't call this guy a hunter. maybe a purchaser, but not a hunter. Just my 2cents worth.

Lorenzo.....20 years ago I'd have to agree....but now I think Larry's 21 days and 2 girls might work better!.....or maybe 14 days and 7 girls would be a nice situation.

He also has SCI #4 lion, #1 roan, #5 civet, #9 & 10 Kirk Dik-dik, #1, 2 & 5 Blesbuck, a 35" blue wildebeest, 62" kudu....no telling what else.

Sadly, I also later learn that the big name PH was dealing with a “repatriation” issue with local politicians and was trying to keep hold of his property in the south. Very sadly, he put a lion he was raising in a house they were trying to repatriate to keep the politicians at bay and the lion lunged and bit his daughter in the head. Many of you will know who I’m talking about.
So by this time I’m nervous and annoyed but still want to go. It is summer of 2008 now and still no date booked. My requirements when signing the contract were to be in the Zambezi and to hunt two buffalo. Well, now I learn from Arnold that they can’t or won’t be able to come up with a second tag if we head to the Zambezi. But if I’d consider the Gwayi River Valley they can produce two buffalo tags, great hunting, hidden treasure, yada, yada. He won’t refund my deposit at this point and I’m a fool and agree.
Then, one week before I am to leave, Arnold calls to tell me that Col. Tshipa has contracted malaria (which I later learn is a lie) and that he is working to put me in yet another area down around Bulawayo. No buffalo permit there so I’ll need to split a 10-day hunt between Bulawayo for plains game and the Matetsi in the north for buffalo with at least one day lost in travel. I say no way and request that he refund my money. He says no way. A cancellation at this date means 100% loss. I’m in for about $10,000 at this stage. Furious and fearful I go.

Looks like Eric has been screwed over big-time. Any area in Gwayi is suspect, and it sure sounds like his paperwork was not in order and thus stands little chance of getting his trophies, and could possibly be subjected to much worse.

Bwana NderoboSaeed- you couldnt be more correct. Record books should either be thrown away entirely, or kept as scientific data, with no mention of hunter/outfitter anywhere. I'd just once like to see a facet of life where human greed doesn't spoil the party...
Mr. Payne- shame on you for being a snake oil salesman. Every one of your posts reads like a politician trying to worm his way out of an uncomfortable situation. Thanks for trying to F-up hunting, one of the last things left on earth we can truly enjoy. Hope the money spends well.

When considering US based operations of guides/outfitters, check and see if they are NRA members. If not, why support someone who doesn't support us? Consider spending your money elsewhere.
NEVER, EVER book a hunt with BLAIR WORLDWIDE HUNTING or JEFF BLAIR.
I have come to understand that in hunting, the goal is not the goal but the process.
