Specifically US/Doha/Harare? Looking at flights for next year and a search didn't turn up anything fresh... Thanks in advance for any information! Mark DRSS "I always take care to fire into the nearest hillside and, lacking that, into darkness." - the late Dr. Hunter S. Thompson

Not super recent, but no problems (minus a full aircraft). Had to use them (work related) for a return trip back to the US. Decent food for a flight. MSG, USA (Ret.) Armor NRA Life Memeber

I've used QA for three trips to Africa in the last three years, twice with firearms. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. In 2022, flying to Harare, I had a problem with American Airlines, on the first leg of the trip, refusing to load my rifles, described here. However, that wasn't QA's fault, and I've found the QA service to be good on every trip. In 2023, we flew to Cape Town with no rifles, and all was fine. (I even got upgraded to business class on the Cape Town - Doha leg.) This year, I booked the first leg to Dallas separately, so flew to Dallas on a separate ticket, collected my rifles, and checked in at Dallas with rifles. Then flew on to Harare with no problems anywhere. The 2023 and 2024 trips were booked by Kathi Climes. The Dallas-Doha flight is long (15 hours) and the Doha-Harare flight stops in Lusaka, so that takes a bit longer than it would if it was a direct flight. Interestingly, the Doha-Dallas flight this time overflew Iran, Kazakhstan, and Russia. I hope this helps. Flights follow different routes on every flight. According to wind. Interesting watching flights on FLIGHT RADAR 24 AP.

I used them in 2019, 2021 and 2023 to Johannesburg. They are a great airline. I have had zero issues. John Pomazi Hunt Nation Cell: 503 539-3836 John@hunt-nation.com Website: hunt-nation.com

I’ve flown them 5 times in the last 6 years from ATL, DFW, and MIA to JNB in business class. Superlative service and Hamad airport in Doha is something to see. I’ve also flown Emirates 3-4 times on a similar route and they are equally as good. Unfortunately the last 2 years Emirates business tickets have been about $1000 more expensive…… Vote Trump- Putin’s best friend… To quote a former AND CURRENT Trumpiteer - DUMP TRUMP

Good airline. US carriers could learn a lot from them! Formally Bwana1.

Hahaha! Those in charge of US airlines don’t like Middle East airlines. They don’t like the competition where the passengers are actually looked after!

If I am not mistaken, Qatar Airlines ranks in the Top 5. Ticket prices are regulated by the tourist flow and peak times, so if you do your due diligence and book in advance you can get some good deals. I recently flew Qatar on a $1200 ticket but later, when I asked to extend an already confirmed departure date by 7 days was quoted an extra $1700. I flew on the confirmed date.

My wife and I just returned from Nairobi, flying Qatar from Seattle/Doha/Nairobi. We used Qatar last year for a Harare trip. I'm cheap and we fly economy. Qatar is fine and better than the US carriers. But my wife and I both prefer Emirates. The planes are both 777s, but Emirates handles boarding and admin stuff better (although the Nairobi airport is MUCH better than Harare). But the economy class service in Emirates is much superior. Emirates not only provides more and better food, the attendants frequently come by with water/drinks, snacks are frequent, and the staff is just more attentive. Sadly, on the 14 hour SEA/Doha flights, the staff simply provide a meal, a snack, and a meal, and only came by with water/drinks once.

I’ve only flown Qatar once(USA/Doha/Lusaka), and it was a horrible experience. Long story short, at O’hare they had the wrong gate listed on the monitor, so my daughter and I waited at the wrong gate. By the time we figured out that we were at the wrong gate, the flight was boarding. We ran to the correct gate, along with several other passengers who had also stood at the wrong gate. When we arrived at the correct gate the Qatar customer service representatives ignored us as though we were invisible. I finally got someone’s attention and he told me “you’ll have to go to A5” and waved his hand in a general direction. Confused, we began to hurry to “A5” as the plane was going to be taking off soon. We hadn’t gone far before realizing that A5 was all the way on the other side of O’hare. We went back to the gate to inquire why we had been sent away, and the guy admitted that they had closed the doors and we would not be allowed to board… we had missed our flight. I explained to the CSR that the wrong gate had been listed on the monitor. He told me “that’s impossible”. The other passengers told him the same thing, but he repeated that it was impossible and that we were SOL, we had missed our flight. Some of the other passengers got belligerent but it was no use. I paid for a hotel out of pocket as there wasn’t another flight until the next day. We lost a day on our trip and to add insult to injury, when we got to Lusaka, our only checked bag(a large duffel bag full of gifts my daughter had bought for her cousins) was completely destroyed. It had been put into a a large airline plastic bag, but a lot of the presents were danmaged. The level of destruction to the bag made it seem intentional. I would guess that the ground crew did this to our bag while removing it from the aircraft after the other passengers were belligerent with the CSRs. In all of the dozens of international flights I have made, this was the only experience that has made me feel like I should avoid a particular airline. Being ignored by a team of CSRs, then given the run around, and finally, having our luggage destroyed, left a bad taste in my mouth. Probably just an isolated incident, but not one that I care to repeat. Jason "You're not hard-core, unless you live hard-core." _______________________ Hunting in Africa is an adventure. Maybe not recent enough, but 4 months ago, flew Qatar DFW-Doha-JNB. We always have copies of required paperwork to hand to check in agent so no issues there, efficient and courteous check in both ways, no issues with flight crews or cabin staff, second only to Emirates in quality of flights, as our host put it in another thread…it all boils down to personnel. We’ve been fortunate that competent personnel have been on duty for our flights. Sorry you had a bad experience, regardless of airline. Karl Evans

Flown both Qatar and Emirates to Harare from Houston. Both business and only Emirates first. I prefer Emirates from an experience POV like for like. Only took a bow on Qatar, Emirates was easy with guns & bows. Flying to Lusaka on 9/4 with Emirates. Business was about $1K cheaper. Wrong gate is an airport problem. Not the airline’s.

Just climbed off a QA flight last week. Long way to Jo'burg but I missed all the excitement of the Crowdstrike debacle with the other airlines. Our flights stayed on time and we made it... however, the crowd at Africa Sky was sparse due to the Delta and United mishaps. Flying QA again the end of September to Tanzania. SO a solid thumbs up from me... On the plains of hesitation lie the bleached bones of ten thousand, who on the dawn of victory lay down their weary heads resting, and there resting, died.
