And leave your car fobs by the front door to make it easy for thieves. Welcome to Canada, some people can't understand why Albertans have had enough of this shit and want to leave. According to our justice Minister, this is not the Wild West, Yeah Right. Confused

When the horse has been eliminated, human life may be extended an average of five or more years.

yes castle law is far from our forte here ... few people has killed thieves in their home and won in court including in toronto but the cost is insane to have good representation.

Hahahaha!

Here they would need body bags to get them out of my house!

This is the sort of thing that actually encourages crime!

Here your home is your castle!

The anti's fulling understand this.

They love crime it allows them to pass more laws and restrictions on the people.

One of the reasons the left leaning Us cities have such a huge crime
rate.

The want to destroy the fabric of western civilization.

I hesitated starting this thread for this very reason. The portrayal of both our countries in the sensationalized news cycles for the most part does not represent my personal experiences speaking with Canadians and Americans both rural and urban.

Yet, when I saw the video in the op, I was quite surprised. Yet think of a situation like Daniel Penny and the infamous NY subway "chokehold". It was obvious to me the treatment there was not very different from what Phil describes as Canada's interpretation of castle doctrine.

Socialist's are the same world wide when it comes to disarming the population.

They want control and disarming the people is a necessary thing if they want to control the population.

we have something clear in our criminal code but the police officer presenting the video he s not reading it the same way lol ...

https://lois-laws.justice.gc.c...C-46/section-34.html

https://www.justice.gc.ca/eng/.../rsddp-rlddp/p5.html

as Jim pointed out it s always more complicated than we think ... but our crown (your prosecutors/DA system) and police local or federal do not want you knowning that ... and im pretty sure there is a lot of states that have a very similar situation.

Definitely vague verbiage Phil, that allows prosecutors and politicians to define "Threatening" and "Reasonable".

Same with DLP's to stick with hunting in the discussion.

Put a brown bear down in self defense in a bush community area of Alaska and you get far less scrutiny than if I put one down in my yard in Anchorage.

Jim

At least in the 9th circuit killing a bear is held to a different standard.

https://www.ammoland.com/2025/...rizzly-bear-attacks/

The standard is different and lower than the standard to be used for self-defense against humans.

From the opinion by the Ninth Circuit issued in 2017, bold added:

“We hold the ‘good faith belief’ defense for a prosecution under 16 U.S.C. § 1540 is governed by a subjective, rather than an objective, standard, and is satisfied when a defendant actually, even if unreasonably, believes his actions are necessary to protect himself or others from perceived danger from a grizzly bear. Because the district court applied an objective standard, we vacate Wallen’s conviction and remand for further proceedings consistent with this opinion.”
