Hello Nemo:
Thank you for the lead regarding end cap s for doubles J did not have the chance to go on line and check them out.
Regarding your double I am glad that Cabela's decided to refund you money, I hope you get the whole thing back. I would say don’t give up on the Sabatti or Cabela's. As for the sabatties they are very good solid rifle from a lot of positive reports I read from many happy satisfied owners. Couple of thoughts on the subject.
I have seen and inspected few rifles on Cabela's site. And found few good well fitted rifles in the 500 and 470 if you want to change from the 450. Unfortunately they don’t have many 450s out there; if you like I can point them out to you at what stores and their ID #s.
Also if you find one that you like I suggest you inspect it in person and if you are satisfied and happy with the way it looks and feels, the target is good and bullets are not crossing etc, then I would suggest that you ask them to ship it to the closest Cabela store to you. If you happen to have the time to go and inspect it in person.
Again good luck and God's speed.

Malek

Best regards

Ops, what I intended to say in the beginning of the 3rd paragraph is to inspect the rifle completely on the net, before asking them to ship to the store where you can inspect it in person.

Cane Rat, I droped Mr. Peter a PM and we're talking about one of his rifles. I'm not yet sure how it will wind up, but I'm supposed to talk with him on th phone tomarrow.

Malek,

NECG has alot of good stuff, I hope you are able to get all you need to customize your Sabattis from them. If or when you do, PLEASE post some photos of the results! I and alot of others would love to see what you do to them! tu2

I don't understand how in the world I have been just about the only person (on AR) to get not just one, but two really bum Sabattis.

Based on what everybody else on the AR forum (including yourself) has reported about Sabattis, I am convinced the 2 bum rifles I got were the exception and not the rule. So while I will never get another one without personal inspection, I won't say the are all poorly made double rifles.

I really appreciate your offer of help with the Sabattis, but I think I will hold off for a while before I look to get another Sabatti.

As it is, everything seems to have worked out for the best. I am talking to peterdk about one of his double rifles. I don't know yet, but it looks like it MIGHT work out...

Thanks again everybody for all the help, support, advice, and well-wishes.

I will post again when I get my money back from Cabelas, and let y'all know how they handle this refund buisness.

Nemo,

Peter's a good guy who used to work for and was trained by Rigby's, he's a master gunsmith who knows doubles and he'll treat you right. You'll get what I am sure is a much better rifle for about the same $$$, Peter's doubles are even hand-engraved. If you work something out with him and need help importing it drop me a line, I have imported rifles in the past, it's a pretty simple process.

Mr. Andy,

Thank you so much for putting me onto Mr. Peters trail. He has told me a bit about his work and credintials, needless to say, I was (and am) very impressed.

I was shocked (in the best possible way) at his prices.

If everything works out I'll come to you for help. Smiler

Thanks again for making the suggestion to contact him. I had read references to him as knowing a great deal about DRs, knowlwdge gained from being "in the industry". But I never knew he actually made them. Anyway thanks for telling me about him.

Glad to be of help. Yes, Peter knows his stuff. If you need help importing it just drop me a PM, importing a single rifle is not a big deal and is pretty simple. I was actually in line for one of his rifles in .500NE and then the economy took a shit but when things turn around I'll be ordering one. Andrew Baldry, a very well known PH in Zambia who goes by the handle "fairgame" here on AR, I believe also has a .500 on order with Peter.

I purchsed the Sabbatti 450NE that CCMdoc had for sale. I have only shot it 4 times. I have not had the opportunity to see exactly how it shoots off of rest. All four shot were off handed. It was great to shoot. It appears to be well made, has much better wood than I would have expected and handles very well. The only change I might make immediately would be to replace the fron site with an ivory bead to make it a bit easier for these old eyese to pickup. Look forward to getting off a few more rounds within the next week or so. I have always resisted getting into rifle reloading, but it look like that is coming.

It will indeed. I am not condeming Sabatti here. I just wonder if they will be asked about this, and what they will say if they are...

I won't be there, but I would like tohear what Sabatti and/or USSG/EAA (and maybe even Cabelas) have to say about this.

Oh don't worry, I'll ask about the "problems".

I have no problems asking the hard questions
- like why do some guns not shoot like the test targets ?
- your issue

Well fellas,

Earlier this evening, I called Andy Reidlinger of Cabelas to see about my refund. He said he would call Cabelas Glendale, AZ. and get them moving. Next, Cabelas Glendale, AZ. calls me and wanted to know what amount the shipping and insurance (for the first return) were. I proceded to tell them, and he said that the amount would be added to my total refund.

Then Andy called me back to tell me that he had contacted them and I should be hearing from them about a FULL refund. I told him that they had, and thanked him for all his trouble. He said something like "no trouble at all" and "a pleasure to be a help to you".

Later, Cabelas Glendale, AZ. called me back again to confirm the amount, and to get the "card number" to credit back the account. The lady put me on hold while she made sure the transaction would go through, which she said it would. My computer does not disply the change in funds, but she said it might take a day or so for everything to get sorted out.

So, I will post again when I have received the refund. Thanks to all the folks who encouraged me to stick to ot and fight it out. I don't like confrontation, or making a fuss, so at first I wanted to roll over. But alot of y'all here kept telling me to slug it out and not settle for anything less than a FULL refund, which it looks like I am getting. So, in short, thanks to everybody -and especially Jorge- for all the encouragement, advice, and support through all this. I appreciate it.

Good to hear the good news, also to know that Cabela's lived up to their good name.
I wish you the best of luck on your new hunt for a double. You mentioned that you had spoken with Peter about his rifles and the work that he does and you were pleasantly surprised at both his credentials and prices. That sounds great. would like to know the outcome of all of that from what I have read about Peter all sounds very positive and reading his posts he sounds like a person that knows his stuff very well and appears to be a gentleman that will be good to do business with.
Please keep us informed.
Good luck and God's best.

Hey boys,

The bank's website finaly shows that I have received the FULL refund, i.e. $5,675.99.

So, this story is finaly over.

Once again I would like to thank ALL those who contributed, for their support, info, help, encouragment, and advice.

I came to this forum hoping for some info, a little advice, and maybe some help. What I found far exceeded my wildest expectations. Not only did I find alot of help and good advice, but I also found what I did not expect... friends.

If anyone has any (more) questions about anything on this thread, just drop me a PM.

GOD speed, good hunting, and straight shooting!

I won't have it for probably a couple of months, but when I do I will post pics and info.
