Intersting that you should say that. I deliberatley prevent case grip in the chamber because of the damage it does to the cases. I take the view that the action was designed to withstand all of the thrust the cartridge is capable of delivering. Theoretically, case grip is going to be subject to a host of variable influences so lubing the case adequately (or polishing the cases) should keep the case grip reasonably constant and not too high. But hey, I'm the student here!

Say, the 222 Rimmed is a fine looking cartridge! And looks is as good a reason to choose one cartridge over another as any!

That's good enough for me! Same reason I prefer a 6.5x57 over a 6.5x55. No good reason at all! And make it rimmed! I like the look of that 222 Rimmed too! Anybody have a rimmed case stuck in a sizer die? I have - I just pulled harder on the press lever and it, well, came out. Nearly ripped the press off the bench, 'though! (I don't normally body size anyway but it makes for a good excuse). Besides, the most popular cartridge on earth is rimmed!

I just like rimmed cartridges because I can! I suffer their drawbacks and live with it. Actually, the worst drawback is standing them in the loading tray - there is no body support so they wobble around a lot! And with the crappy Lee Enfield magazine, they can hook over each other and jam. My 303-25 magazine doesn't have that problem. The only decent L E mag I have ever seen (which is not that many). It holds the cartridges in firmly even when removed from the rifle. (I must examine it and modify my other L E mags).
One day I am goint to get me a break-action rifle, then the rim will shine!
