Just like to have a short list of the wildcats based on the weatherby line of cartridges and made simply necking up and down the parent case. I know the 6 mm - 224 , the 6,5 - 257 , the 6 mm - 300, the 7 mm - 300 and the 35 - 378 . I also know the less common 500 weatherby and the 22 - 378 .Are there any others? Do wildcats like 8 mm - 300 , 8 mm - 378 and 35 - 300 actually exist?

550 express, 550 mag of course, ALL of the weatherby rounds (except the rocket) are based either off weird shoulders on HH cases, or a belted rigby opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? There are some on the 240 WBY case necked to 411 and 423 but the 423 Fossdal is going to be longer than 240 brass 2.6" Shorter 240 brass could be used. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. (Founder)

Mmmmhh , yes, these would be 400 whelen and 423 OKH belted , avoiding headspacing problems with a belted design

Exactly. I think the 435 on the 06 case is better than the 423OKH. The 423 is the largest you can go without zero taper and a reliable headspace without bullet creep. There is also my zero taper 2.050" 240 wby case design with a 44 bullet (.430") for short actions and lever actions. 577 BME 3"500 KILL ALL 358 GREMLIN 404-375 *we band of 45-70ers* (Founder) Single Shot Shooters Society S.S.S.S. 338 X378 use to be a wildcat and is popular enough that factory brass is now made for it. 338 X378 S&S Rouge_____ 416 S&S Rogue______ 510 S&S Rogue The Rogue series is an improved version of the 500 A-square case. Which like the Wells is based off the 378/460 Weatherby case. The closest cartridge I know to what you ask is the 8MM X 338. Neal

On a modified HVA Swede? 260 Weathery Magnum? I've always thought this combo would make a great 6.5! But honestly a 6.5-06 would be cheaper and do more in the long run?

I have a 6.5/06 in the making and a .240 Weatherby ULW. If Weatherby made the 6.5/240 in ULW AND brought back the .338/06 I would buy them both before they change their mind and quit making them. Brass cost would not be a large issue because 4 or 5 boxes would last me a long time. I just have to find the time to make the stock for the 6.5/06. It will be one that I have built but there is always that little bit inside that makes you want to own a Weatherby. I'm glad I bought the .240 instead of a .243 ULW which would have made more economical sense but a weatherby rifle should have a Weatherby cartridge. ANYBODY FROM WEATHERBY LISTENING???!!

Charles Askins played with an 8mm/340 prior to the 8mm Rem being offered. It would be no differnt than the 8mm/300 already mentioned.
