what do you guys think of the ruger case necked to all feasable calls with the case length of 57 mm??? it should have the same capacity as the win mag so you can guess performance...turn the 7 mauser into a 7 mag 416 version will have 416 taylor performance ect ect...

what do you guys think?

6.5 rem and 350rem .. and 450 marlin/458 american 2"... and those cases have been necked all around, as well as all the WSMs.. you would gain what, 10-14% over those?
Would be ineresting in a short action. Richard Mann did a 416 WSM, which would be slightly larger than the x5 ruger, and at 65kpsi, made 2400fps..

could be done

thanks for the chime el jeffe...

what would be better, rebating the rim or opening the bolt face???

yes for the 416 i was thinking 400@ 2350 max like the taylor...but i think the ruger-mauser will be more efficient.

having a m98 size magnum is a neeto idea for some i would think... bewildered

being 2.24" in length instead of 2.1" would give the ruger mauser a case capacity advantage???

if you had a m98 and were using it for a wsm or a 35 rem mag or 6.5 rem mag you could rechamber or rebarrel and not have to touch the bolt face. it wont change the world but i thought it might be good for someone...

mauser length jefferies...i like it.

the 57 mm ruger wont have the same boom room but will have other benefits of the std mag bolt face and soon to be cheap strong brass.

you da'man bartschemeister salute

the proposed ruger-mauser's should do

7mm, 160 gr @ 3000 fps
308, 180 gr @ 3000 fps
338, 225 gr @ 2800 fps
358, 250 gr @ 2700 fps
366, 286 gr @ 2550 fps ( this one i call the torque'r)
375, 270 gr @ 2600 fps
416, 400 gr @ 2350 fps
458, 500 gr @ 2200 fps

the 458 will need to have body taper blown out to headspace.

p.s. half the comercial carts today started as "air cats" then wildcats. Roll Eyes

gents...
i have to ask... what are the benefits of cutting off .200 from a case, that will fit in a mauser action... there are very few mausers that have a 2.8inch mag.. like, well, the kurtz only.. on 3.15, that brings in the 1910 and 1936 mexicans, but a m48 will take a 3.35 with about 15mins of file work...

so, if a 2.55 case will fit in the mausers, with a .8 bullet sticking out, that is the most capacity you can get in a case that fits a mauser.

and therefore the least pressure you can get for the velocity and length limits

Boom, like Jeffe said, why cut of a perfectly good case that fits most Mausers as it is?
Sure, if anyone wants one, by all means, but it is a long way from the AR line, which is a threat to the people!

And those ballistics you list are really close to the .30-06 family, which is a better construction by far! IMHO.

A wildcat that does not do somthing already established cartridges do, is of no interest, at least not to me. To neck a new case up and down just for the hell of it is not really my cup of tea.

But you kepp going, I know you are having fun! wave

Boom,
The .375 Ruger will fit the VZ-24 as is and many of the other Mausers as well. Maybe a bit cramped but I'd bet it'll fit with little to no alteration.
