NOt saying it should be done, but pleasing to the eye, simply cause I luv long necKs!

......300hh..................338hh.....................366hh........ Smiler

...Nice match with a land of the longneck .256newton, wouldnt yr say, Boomstick?

That long neck would well support these LR torpedoes...

I dont have 260hv ballistics, but .375-265Hv chart gives an idea.

Say you kick her(260hv) out at a realistic 2650fps, I still like what she would have,
around 2307v/3132e(300m/328yds) So.... 25% more MoJo at 10% further down a long 300yd road

In comparison to;
.375hh270fs2670fps: has 2234/2994(200yd)...2003v/2478e(300yds)
.338wm250np2660fps: has 2295/2923(200yd)...2124v/2503e(300yd)

It looks good, I'll give you that!
If you are prepared for the hazzle, by all means...
But with a .375 bullet, you could use the .375H&H cases and so have correct stamped cases, and a cartridge legal all over - still with a long, sloppy shoulder.....
I aggree that the original .375H&H is not the sexiest cartridge.....

what i like is the 400 version that will turn the 300 case in to a straight taper to the 423/416/411 now that wouldbe a slick feeding cart.

the 400 h+h has less taper and a shoulder
this would follow my rule of not mixing belts with shoulders

Since it's a wildcat I would only use it here in the states. That being the case, I would stick with original or the .338 version.

If I was dead set on doing a 9.3 I would definitely use the .375 H&H case. Not as sexy, but it would keep the pressure low and the velocity high.

In all honesty there is nothing to be gained. That's why I abandoned the .338 H&H idea after I made the mock up in the picture above. Balisticlly it falls right between the .338-06 and a .338WinMag.

I doubt seriously the .366 version is to scale. It's just been photoshopped.

Here ya go boom stick. Just played with it on the LBD program and it's basiclly a straight walled case once you go to .416 bullets. The case has taper, but NO shoulder.

i dont like belts mixed with shoulders...

now THAT ought to feed like throwing a hot dog down a hallway Wink

plenty of capacity and taper...

i could call it a 400 or 416 lott hillbilly

how about the 400 and 416 straight belted rimless nitro for now

2 min and photoshop...

tadaaaaa! on the left a 300 h+h and the 400-300h+h aka 400 belted rimless nitro

think of it as a 1/3rd less kicking lott

kinda cute aint it?

basicly a 400 version shoulderless 416 rem mag...it is the 400 version of what the 458 lott is to the 458 ackley

i like the 400 version for the reasons the 45-70 bullets make the lott so versatile the 405win bullets and pistol bullets make the 400 version great too.

its a fun idea...

here is an interesting thing...

you just use a 300 h+h reamer and a 400 neck/throat reamer...no custom reamer.

you fire form the brass...

custom reloading dies and a barrel swap of a rum or 375 h+h...hmmm...

400 lott???

the same can be done on the 375 h+h case but the area that grips the bullet aka the neck will be shorter...but necking up will be easier...hmmm...

WinkRight on with long necks.

Just a matter of personal preference, but me thinks the parent case should be the .375 Ultra mag. with the long neck , about a 17 degree shoulder and just a scosch less body tapper.

stir I don't know exactly why but it looks like 9.3mm.s are here to stay. Kinda falls in there with the .277 caliber. bewildered Heck Elmer wasn't all wrong. Eekerroger

Boom Stick, this is why I said what I said. There aren't any die's for this so you're going to have to get those made or live with neck sized only reloads. Then you have to find an action that's suitable for a .300 H& H case. I know that's not a real hard feat, but if you're going to modify one it adds to the price. If you find one that's ready to go you'll probably pay a premium for it. If you do find this action, why put an anemic cartridge like that one in it? Certainly you could, but why? IMO, it has a lot working against it before it even gets off paper. It does absolutely nothing the Taylor won't do for a lot less $$$ except be unique. That's just not enough for the serious $$$ it adds to the project IMHO. Here is the death nail to the whole idea IMO. Holland&Holland already makes a well thought out .400 H&H! Why spend all that money building an anemic cartridge that you won't be able to get ten cents on the dollor for if you ever decide to sell? I know you mentioned feeding, but if it's built right feeding shouldn't be an issue with any of the above cartridges mentioned.

Not meaning to rain on your parade. Those pictures of the .300 and .338 H&H are mine and they aren't photoshopped. I did a real mock up and crunched a lot of numbers. That should give you an idea about how serious I was about doing a .338H&H. In the end I just couldn't justify it as it didn't do anything that wasn't already there except be unique. If you decide to go through with it. Keep us informed!

Terry
