.338LAPUA-CAT´s
Hallo,

i´m working on different Wildcats, based on .338 Lapua Cases....
Some of them are finished, some are just begun ( design drawings)

Picture left to right :

7mm KM, a 7mmSTW ++P
300 Lapua with a 220grs Lostriver M40 Bullet
7,62 UKM 190grs Sierra getting 3230fps....
Original .338 Lapua
.375-.338 named "9,5 TORNADO" getting 2907fps with 300grs Swift A-Frame
.416-.338.....design stage
.460-.338.....same

and working on a 7mm based on a shortened 7,62 UKM

Anny more ideas..??

Best

Seems to me the logical direction here is .323", .358", and .50" calibers. Doing a 6.5MM would be a fun experiment albeit a bit overbore.

yes...if ou trim the 458-338 lapua at 2.65" you have a cal length neck and can fit in a std 3.34" mag length gun and the 2.5" short neck would be cool for intermediate mausers

here ar a few of my 458 wildcat ideas
2.5" 458 lapua, 2.65" 458 lapua and the unimproved 2.65" 458 jeffery

YEAH....

Ok, 8mm would be nice,

a 9,3 mayby but there´s a 375 already..

a .50 ( .510 ?? BMG-Bullet) don´t think it´ll work because you´ll have no shoulder to headspace...

a 6,5 ??? EekerNo WAY or, ok just to test how many rounds you need to burn out the throat...

the 500 AR, which is shortened, and the 500 KE, which is full length, are based off the "rigby".. then again, so is the lapua Smiler

the 416 lapua =416 rigby and the 458 lapua = 450 rigby... .

and, should one add a belt to them, 416 weatherby and 460 weatherby...

with the belt, one has
378 weatherby
338-378 w
30-378 w

and anythingi smaller will just cook the barrel...

which is why *I* shortned the cases

Hey, that .500 is looking good...
(wish i could have one)

But, you can´t compare Rigby and 338 LM Cases...
Not only because of the measurments, but about the toughness of the base and web...my 7,62 UKM is working with 680000psi max.allowed Pressure, don´t even think about doing this with a shortened and necked .416 Rigby case....

And yes, you are right, if you need something smaler you should work with a shortened case.
Thats why i ´m going to cut the UKM to about 50mm bit under 2", 1,15xCaliber neck -length and a 30° Shoulder.....
Using powders like N-165 i hope to get a 180grs 7mm VLD to about 3100-3200fps...
