I thought the 376 Steyr was based on the 9.3x64. There is also a 375 Hawk-Scoville based on the 9.3x62. It was originally chambered in a 1895 Winchester.

376 IS off the x64 brass (.500 case head) Hawks are mostly off 30-06 basic cases... so, the 375x642.1" cae has been done, and works great the 416x376 or 416 aagard is done, and works great.. jeffe opinions vary band of bubbas and STC hunting Club Information on Ammoguide about the416AR, 458AR, 470AR, 500AR What is an AR round? I wildcatted the 9.3X64 Brenneke to a .375 It duplicates factory 375 H&H ballistics, although of course the 375 H&H can be handloaded to higher velocities. It feeds/shoots well from my Mauser action. Very flexible, easy to use cartridge. I chose the .375 caliber due to the huge selection of bullet weights available. Now that Barnes makes its TSX in 9.3 caliber, you might just want to stay with the original design. Now a 400 caliber (.411) off the 9.3X64 Brenneke might be very interesting... Garrett

The original 375 Hawk was based on the 9.3X62. When it became the 375/hawk scoville it was changed to the 06. Mainly do to the brass being more available. I believe the rest of the Hawks were then designed around the 06 brass. http://www.z-hat.com/Hawk%20History.htm As usual just my $.02 Paul K
