the 404 is .540 -- which is why rem/win called the ultra/wsm cases "proprietary" at .550

BohicaYou might be thinking of the cartridge Mr. Ken Waters did a bunch of years ago. He necked the 350 Rem Mag up to 416 and went from there. I got him the reamer from JGS when he had some problems with his order. The cartridge is a great "MID-RANGE" type 416. I have one I made up in my shop on a Ruger [old model] 77 SA that is the cats meow for the stuff in the trees. Overall length [COL] is 2.810 with a 400 Barnes. VERY authoratative in a light weight rifle but VERY accurate too.

Allow the picture to download above and read the article.. the 416 winchester is the 416 howell, ken also called his 416x350rem (as you made) the express, but the honest question was what's the 416 winchester

This cartridge was designed and developed in 1979 but never reached the
production stage.
I bleieve that Ken Howell first dreamed it up, based on the 404 Jeffery
case.
