Have any of you guys done one of these? I have a Rem. mod. 7 in 7 saum that I have not got to shoot to suit me yet and I am thinking about a re-barrel. Thanks - nimrod308

If you rebarrel, why not rebarrel in the same cartridge, but from one of the custom barrel makers? If you trued the action once the factory tomato stake is removed, you'll probably have a real shooter on your hands.

lots of WSM/WSSM's out there in a 6.5, but I think doing it on a SAUM makes more sense. The shorter case and longer neck to me, makes more sense for the 6.5's so you dont have to lose as much powder on longer bulleter.

If you think every possible niche has been filled already, thank a wildcatter!

I did my 6.5 SAUM year before last and am very happy with it. Due to health problems it took a while to finally get around to working it out. Main objective [if really needed] was to obtain 264 Win Mag performance from a short actioned lighter rifle. Heck! My 264 only weighs 6.4 lbs so therein lies the ture test. Well it finally worked out to 5lb 13oz. This is with a 22" barrel and it meets or beats my 23" 264 easily. Accuracy? There was a bit of a challenge. With the 264 WM I just basically filled a case with H-870, a 140 Sierra GK and got sub MOA. Not so here! I finally settled on Ramshot as the powder of choice for accuracy and velocity. Very happy now and it makes a nice light elk/deer/whatever rifle.
Aloha, Mark

I'm still working on loads for my 6.5 Rem mag AI.
It has a very similar capacity to the SAUM case.
With a 30" barrel I'm getting 31-3240 fps without much fuss.
I have a can of IMR 7828 that I have yet to delve into but otherwise I'm using RE22 and H1000.
