I asked peoples opinion on another forum, thought I see what this group thinks. Heard a tv commercial for Gamo and it said get I think it was 800fps out of a .22 "round." I thought they were talking .22 rimfire when I heard "round" but they were talking pellet. Do you refer to a pellet as a round. Specialist your vote may not count--in England they use some funny terms-lol.

i've always called any projectile shot from a tubular barreled weapon a round....... bows shoot arrows.... crossbows shoot bolts..... FWIW

Ha Ha Ya ... Over here they called 'em "Slugs" but the PC mob found that too violent. Now their objecting to "Air Weapon". It's going the way of Paint balling, first time somebody asked "what brand MARKER I used" I was baffled, I don't need a "Marker" the paint balls FIRED from my Paint ball GUN mark them just fine.

I think "round" really is the whole assembly of bullet, case, primer and powder.

I'm going to start calling them Airweapon Bullets.

Also I'm on a crusade angst the term "Multishot"

Somebody suggested to me that a "round" derives from the cycle of loading a BP muzzle stuffer.

In pellet guns, I call them "pellets."

A search online cites the "cycle" concept in "rounds of drinks" and "rounds" by doctors.

Also the connotation of "spherical" which would be "ball" ammo, as in muzzle loaders.

Many folks talk of "rounds of ammo" meaning the entire cartridge, but we also say "where did that round hit?". With an air-rifle, just the pellet would be considered a round, IMO, but not in the same sense as a cartridge round (for when the Gov starts to limit rounds of ammo in possession).

If I fire it, it's just a pellet. If it is fired at ME it's a DAMN round.

a "round" means a round ball -- explicitely -- BUT its been stretched to mean ammunition .. and a pellet is as much of a round as a conical in a blackpowder round

to me a round is a complete bullet or shell,

not a load, pellet, bolt, arrow, dart, or even an old dried out lugy hanging like an icecicle from the ceiling of the bedroom in a Hilton suite.

Huuum, I would have thought of the Brown Bess as shooting Balls or Mini-Balls. Can't imagine anyone getting them confused with a Round.

Hey Carpetman, Pellet is what I think of in a Air Rifle or the old traditional "BB" in the Daisey.

Perhaps Gamo is trying to convince people the short Video they had of the fool shooting a Pig with a Pellet has more POWER if they refer to it as a Round.

When you walk in a Gun Shop to buy some, do you ask for Pellets or Air Rifle Rounds?

So, call it what you want, it is still a Pellet to me.

Bess would shoot a round.. aka ball ..minie came on the scene 120 years later, right? Bess wasn't rifled and a minie' wouldn't have done much
