Does anyone have recommendations for areas and outfitters for CBuff in Namibia? I'd prefer to go for 21 days if possible.

This would be my first hunt in Africa and ANY recommendations/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Your only option for Buff in Namibia is the Caprivi Strip. Several outfitters conduct hunts there. Vaughan Fulton/Fulton Classic Safaris comes readily to mind. 21 days seems a little long to hunt just Buff though. You could certainly add some other DG species, and PG, for that long a safari.

Check into CEC Safaris. They have a concession near Etosha and the Caprivi Strip. Very good comany.

nvhunter,

If I were lucky enough to be planning a buff hunt in Namibia and had 21 days to do it, I'd be thinking about adding an elephant or (maybe a better idea for a first safari) some pg hunting in another area. With a bit of effort, I'll bet you can find a good outfit that will allow some flexability on your dates between the Caprivi and a pg area. You could plan on splitting your time 50/50 between the two, but if you got your buff early, you could head off for phase 2 early as well, or vice versa. Whatever you decide, please post some of the details about who with and the areas to be hunted. I'm considering going back to Namibia for a dg/pg hunt in a couple of years and would be interested in hearing about what your choices.

Dear Sir,

Please check if any of the PH's for CEC holds DG NAPHA licenses, and if not, should not be able, in theory to legaly offer any DG in Nambia. You are welcome to refer to the NAPHA web-site where the members and their qualifications are listed.......I could not find the gentleman concerned....

You are welcome to contact me for any information regarding a CBuff hunt in Namibia, South-Africa and Zimbabwe.

Cornie and Elaine Coetzee (CEC) are both PH's, although their DG is mainly lion and leopard. Namibia only offers a very small zone for buffalo hunting, with limited tags, and would not be my first choice of places to hunt buff.

Infinito, nou hoe dan nou?
You can hold whatever license you want (HG/MHG/PH/PH-BGH) and not be affiliated to NAPHA. The website ONLY contains NAPHA members.

Just for interest sake, does Karl hold a PH license for Zim?

No, I don't, as you might know that it is virtually impossible to be a citizen of both Namibia and Zim, both countries require at least permanent residence to hold the licence. I have always worked with Russ Broom Safaris, and have never make a secret about it. They (and Infinito) in return then work with me in Namibia. No big secret/ cloak and dagger stuff. But back to Infinito's post, he asked the question if any of CEC are big game PH's. I do not know either personally, having met them exactly once (at a NAPHA shoot), though reports on them here on AR are extremely positive. I do not think they hold dangerous game licences though, and am open to correction. (Leopard being the exception, as any hunting guide can guide for them.)

No need to feel sorry for me "Boet".....I am just curious. What I do know is that it is not good to hunt with someone that is not affiliated to NAPHA or PHASA at all, although membership to these organizations are totaly compulsory. There is a reason why people do not want to join these organisations.....

A hunt combining DG in Caprivi with PG elsewhere can easily be done. You have to fly into Caprivi and back out but I am doing that next year for elephant with Fulton and PG in another area.

I know the Coetzes are building up their DG experience in other places.
