I wanted to share some photos of our Namibian hunt with African Twilight Safaris (ATS). The photos are pretty much self explanatory.

The hunting party included my father, my great friend from college and his father. We both have hunted with our fathers for over 30 years and hunting with them in Africa was the highlight of the trip.

The other highlight for me was hunting the wild and rugged desert mountains of Namibia. This terrain is similar to what I am used to hunting here in West Texas and Southern NM, only with much more game.

I hope you enjoy our pictures.

I usually tell people that Namibia was just like West Texas, but with more giraffes. Cool

Congratulations on a great hunt.

Steve,

Don't feed Rob's ego like that please. With comments like that, I'll never hear the end of it. Smiler

Glad you had a great time. ATS is great, albeit I've only been to Africa once. Here's my hunt: https://sites.google.com/site/ahansennamibia2008/

I enjoyed perusing your web pages Allen, you certainly seemed to come away from your safari with a lot of good observations and suggestions. I think this would be very valuable reading for a 1st timer heading over, especially if hunting w/bow. Congrat's on the hunt.

Question, do you know what country this horrific incident occurred? There was an incident involving a family recently in Hwange park (Zim), but they were not hunting and the circumstances were different.

One of the stories Stephen told us of was another PH, actually a good friend of his, who had taken a father, wife, and daughter on an elephant hunt. They were near an elephant where the mother was near him and the daughter was lying in front of him in the grass running the video camera. An elephant charged. Most elephant charges are bluffs but this one was real. The PH had to shoot the elephant and just as he pulled the trigger the daughter rose in front of his gun and he shot her in the back of the head with a 458. The elephant then grabbed the mother and killed her. Dad saw the whole thing. The PH is ruined from this horrible accident.
Also, hope you don't mind me pointing this out...in the next paragraph you may want to change the buffalo from "water" to "cape".

Sorry Bill, I didn't catch the PH's name or where it happened. Horrible story. He was noticably ratteled just telling us.

Thanks for the feedback!
