When you take pictures, just squat 10-12 feet behind the animal. It will make them appear much bigger.

Do not laugh! There are at least two people here who do so...

I like the animal to be the "star" of the trophy photo but, having said that, I really don't like the hunter to sit any distance(edited) behind the animal. It takes away any perspective on the animals true size.

I notice that bears are the worst for this.

They should be fed through a mincer, burnt and eaten between two halves of a fresh roll.

Wait a minute I might be onto something there?

That's funny because every time my kids see that picture they always ask why Walters hands are so big compared to his head.

I think bull elephant are the absolute worse. Lots of examples of 30 pound bulls that look like something taken in Kenya 50 years ago just because of the camera angle, e.g., taken looking down the length of the elephant from the ground. It is always interesting to see the in the field trophy picture of the bull and the picture of the pulled tusks with the hunter next to them. In many cases you would not even believe the pulled tusks could come from the same elephant they are so much smaller than the field picture.

I thought of that after I posted and I agree with you. After giving it more thought I wonder if crocs might be the very worst.

I saw a picture here on AR of a croc that was supposed to be the "new world record" and to my eye it looked far smaller than a lot of the crocks that have been posted here.

BTW, I'm not blaming anyone. I think some of these trophies are hard to photograph.

Ok..so what's the point. Hunters take the pictures to put the trophy in the best light.obviously, the angle and distance from the hunter can impact the size of the trophy and make it seem larger than it really is. To me, that's just magnifying the experience and creating a really neat photo. No one really needs to impress someone else..just enjoy their own photo.

I agree with these, leave the gun out and smile, hunting is a hobby-sport, it should be fun.

+1! I actually had a non-hunter while looking at some safari pix ask me "How did you get those animals to lie down in front of you" Not too detached from the natural world!!! I guess without the guns in the pix she thought the animals had to be trained pets. And when was the last time anyone didn't recognize the picture might have been taken to make the trophy look better.

Do what you want to do and we will do what we want to do. My way is not the best way, and is yours. I will do that if you pay for my hunt, but if I'm paying, I do what I like.

Damn…….. learn something new everyday. All these years I thought a hunter that does not like to have a shit eating grin on his face while sitting next to a recently deceased creature, was probably just someone who is not prone to smiling in photos. Apparently they are stupid……. who knew?!
