MAN! WHAT A TOAD!!!!

Frostbit sent this to me today. It is a LEOPARD killed by Arub Safaris that we represent just north of Windhoek. If I can get the story I'll post the details.

DAAAAAAAAAANG! That poor cat must be lost. Looks like he belongs about 600 miles to the North East (or however far the Luangwa is).

Super-duper cat. Taken with dogs? Wish there was a better pic of the head. Anyone know the skull measurement?

I've been looking at that leopard all afternoon and it just hasn't gotten any smaller. I'm not going to write up the details since I found out that the lucky hunter is doing an article for SAFARI on the hunt and I don't want to steal any of his thunder.

Rhyme of the Sheep Hunter
May fordings never be too deep, And alders not too thick; May rock slides never be too steep And ridges not too slick.
And may your bullets shoot as swell As Fred Bear's arrow's flew; And may your nose work just as well As Jack O'Connor's too.
May winds be never at your tail When stalking down the steep; May bears be never on your trail When packing out your sheep.
May the hundred pounds upon you Not make you break or trip; And may the plane in which you flew Await you at the strip.

Mark,

Do you have the weight and scull measurements of this leopard?

Would really be interesting to see how close I guessed.

Thanks,

Gerhard

Guys,

I don't want to give out any details as the hunter is planning on writing the hunt up as a story for SAFARI magazine.

Just got an email from the folks that hosted this hunt informing me of what we already knew. No new Leopard permits (in Namibia) through 2010. But I had to get a chuckle from her last sentence.

"That will give them a chance to get bigger while they feast on our cattle and sheep".

It is a true cat of a lifetime I am so lucky. Malan at Arub Safaris is a great hunter and now a great freind. The biggest cat they had ever taken. And yes with hounds. I hunt Mountain lion with hounds so that was the only way I would do it. Wait for the story unbeleivable hunt!!! Biggest Leopard I have ever mounted also as soon as it gets here. I will post those pics too. I am a taxidermist in Colorado and my specialty is big cats.

Thanks Leland

NOW THAT IS A GREAT LEOPARD - Any leopard hunt is an awesome event - a successfull one a pinacle of joy and an unsuccessful one a eternal memory - but all leopard hunts are an awesome experience.
But this leopard is fantastic - well done !!!
