A mate of mine has just told me he's shagging his girlfriend and her twin. I said "How can you tell them apart?" He said "Her brother's got a moustache!"

Not as big as the one we got from the river we swam in in Africa! clap

Mind you, we used a stick that throws bullets to catch him!

What is the authenticated largest saltie in Aussie?

A wildlife sanctuary in Odissa India has one that is over 24 ft.

Rom Whitaker the American (born & brought up in India) has documented a skull that was over 50 years old and measured 7 feet, making the croc more than 30 feet long.

He recently did a TV program where he was in the Australian outback and saw a huge croc from a chopper. It spooked and went into the river. They landed and measured the imprint on the mud & it was over 22 feet IIRC! They did some detailed photo analysis with super imposing before & after shots to try and validate their estimate.

I get the feeling that the Aussie crocs are coming back big time after the serious depletion of the 70s and it is only a matter of time before the giants of legend are found in reality again.

There was a report of a 5 and a half meter salty in one of the big croc hot spots a few years ago, but that was not a confirmed measurement.

Got to help trap a similar sized croc on a station in the NT about 11 years ago. It had been taking cattle.

Once in Africa, hunting crocs, was on a skiff on a lake on the Zambezi River, we were perplexed why a half-grown hippo was by itself, and did not attempt to swim away from the small island it was on when we motored by. After a quarter mile, we turned around and came back the same way, but closer to the island. The hippo was still by herself and not moving. We motered around a small protuberance of island and a monster croc, waiting for the young hippo, had lain up on the edge of the island, about 30 feet from our moving skiff. It took that croc about 2 seconds to decide that it had to move, and the best way was a quick dive into the relatively deep water at the edge of its perch. I wish I had been quicker on the trigger to stand up and shoot, but that 16-17 footer escaped--and so did the young hippo, who dived into the water at the same time, and managed to elude the croc.
Later that day, I got a 13 footer using the same technique.
