Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but what the hell. This is a forum called 'Australian and New Zealand Hunting' It would be a lot more enjoyable if the attacks on each others countries were good natured, without any hidden agenda's, pre-conceived believes posing as fact, or personal attacks on people with different opinions or ethics. The world is a varied and interesting place.

There's something you don't see all the time a KIWI puting his/her or its hand out in friendship what the matter run out of sheep have we

I read most of the threads here, anything specific, Smudge? I don`t recall much going over the top.

I hear you Smudge, I just try to ignore them as they make up a small % of posters. There are a lot of friendly and helpful people here. I feel most of the attacks on each others countries are just good natured, maybe wrong just the way I read it.

I think the questions referred to were about hunting methods of an "industry" not an attack on a country, which could be described as an hunting paradise. Funny way to view an "attack on a country". I think the "country attacks" are only being made by one individual whom used to do it good naturedly but for some reason has changed them into real venom. Even his signature line with every post does it, but in the past was a bit of a joke. With more recent comments perhaps not. So Smudge seeing four of your five posts are on the topics of canned hunting, please post some hunting stories and photos for us all to enjoy. *** Personally I look forward to hunting in NZ again as it has fantastic true hunting opportunities.

I hope these is less venom posted too as it drives members to other forums- members who often have something worthwhile to say.

This is the bitchiest forum that I have seen, stuff all hunting stuff gets posted here. I prefer to post my hunting trips on a NZ forum (as do many other hunters). AR does have some great info in specific forums but I feel this Aus/NZ forum is let down by wanna be safari hunters who do bugger all 'real' hunting trips. I'm not poking shit at you directly Nitrox but for someone with so many posts here you have posted bugger all about your hunting trips- lead by example eh

I'm coming from the States in September with my ancient girl-friend and another more-ancient lady. I, however, am only modestly aged. We're touring NZ. Sydney, Alice Springs, and then Darwin for a BUFFALO HUNT!!! If there's any venom between NZ and AUS posters, I failed to notice (excepting the above posts). But, I can say that us Yanks better sure be glad the Aussies and Kiwis (and Canucks and Limeys)get along with each other and with ourselves. I would estimate I would be in the top 5, certainly the top 10 of members here who have actually posted hunting trips/stories/photos. Please don't give me that "I'm not poking shit at you directly NitroX" stuff, when you directly aim the comment at me by name no less. Try doing a search and wade through the crap. However most of this forum is "chit chat". BTW my topic on NZ canned hunting is hunting related and not whether "it is raining in Qld this afternoon." It is a controversial and heated topic but I see no need or reason for people to make personal attacks or abuse, or abuse other's countries in any topic like this eg "wannabe safari hunters" - lots of class yet again from a Kiwi. As for "Aussie vs Kiwi", Gryphon posted an advertisement about a "canned hunt" in Australia and 'Muzza' somehow construed it as another alledged attack on NZ (neither of us has ever attacked NZ) and had a go with another attack on Gryphon and myself!!!??? I notice you mention "real hunting trips". I guess from this emphasis you are entirely in agreement with my "canned hunting" comments ??? My next hunting trip is a cow elephant hunt in the Zambezi and a plains game hunt in Namibia. Maybe bushpig in South Africa if a couple days can be fitted in. Won't be fitting much else in this year as I will be broke from that. Maybe a try for another chital later but only if a bigger stag can be found as I have more than enough venison this year. Maybe some KI pig hunting when KI dries out a bit. Last year I made three Top End hunts - an Arnhemland hunt, a Top End pig hunt, and a cow buffalo cull. I posted stories or photos about two of these and the third is still to come. Shot a couple of wild fallow deer locally too (venison), but I only shoot them when I have freezer space, unless a big stag can be found. The year before I posted stories about another Arnhemland water buff hunt, a chital hunt, extensive numbers of wild deer photos, etc etc. Probably other stories too but I forget. Most of my "extensive number" of posts relate to the African hunting and in the past the Big Bore forums BTW. The African forum has far more actual hunters posting and a hell of a lot more hunting stories. Guess I am a "wannabe safari hunter" for participating there too(?) But those are not the sorts of words I use. I prefer to keep above personal attacks nowadays. Steve - BTW you have posted one thread with hunting photos yourself. Please post some more, as you being a Kiwi hunter I would assume the trophies/game will be coming from wild and those stories are also great to see and read. I wish some Kiwis would learn a question on international 'hunters' doing canned hunts in NZ is not an attack on NZ or NZ hunters whom would rarely if ever participate in canned hunting themselves. *** The best way to get a forum back on track is not to continue the direct or indirect personal attacks but for members to actually post some photos and/or stories. That's the way I do it when needed.

Hell, some of you people need to get a life! There has only been some friendly banter on here as far as i'm concerned, grow up, get over it and get on with life.
You have to be kidding, right? well that just shows that you dont visit many forums then!

A little tolerance for the opinions of others would go a long way here at the moment . Bakes , maybe we need another forum to discuss hunting ethics on AR ? That way those who like a shitfight could have one every night and the rest of us wouldn't feel compelled to read it . The hunting imperative was part of every man's soul; some denied or suppressed it, others diverted it into less blatantly violent avenues of expression, wielding clubs on the golf course or racquets on the court, substituting a little white ball for the prey of flesh and blood. Just don't read the threads then. Pretty easy. No one is forcing you to read them . Yet these threads have the highest view numbers on page one. As usual. Nothing much else happening here at the moment. *** Looking forward to some actual hunting stories or photos!

Nope, not kidding. To be fair I use four regulary and this is the only one that has contributors from all over the world- it cannot help things I guess as different countries have much different hunting styles and views

nitrox, I waded back 13 or so pages and found the buff hunt which was a good read. It would be good to have a separate hunts section within the NZ/AUS section as those good reads get lost amongst all the dross.

Hippyhunter, you should know NZ will never run out of sheep, although the weather lately has been making them a little more frigid than ussual. Ill warm them up in the barn before I polish my gumboots. Ive only just started posting on this site, so I suppose I have to start somewhere. The ethics of NZ hunters seems as good a place to start as any. I think my first posts were actually trying be informative about the history and current situation with hunting in NZ. I dont ussually read posts of other peoples hunts. I find them a bit boring, and dont feel any need to post my own (I dont think other people would find my hunts interesting, they usually entail a long walk in, freezing my knackers off in the middle of winter in a damp hut that never sees any sun, and walking back out again with all my ammunition intact except for the ones used to blow up some poor rabbit for target practice). I also dont read books on hunting or watch videos or tv shows on the subject. I ussually hunt alone, so would find it difficult to organise a trophy photo. I dont think Ive ever actually shot a trophy caliber animal anyway (Im not a good enough hunter to find one), so would have to carry in some paper mache antlers to super glue on to the deers head for the photo. The main forums I read here are the gunsmithing and reloading forums, as they are full of information and cater more for my interests. I only started checking out this forum because of the title. I guess if my worth is going to be judged on the number of posts I make, in particular the ones on my latest hunt and the size of the antlers in the photo, I shouldnt bother posting. I do find it interesting that an innocuous titled thread such as this one has got so many replys. I was expecting it to be ignored.

Good post Smudge,I got a chuckle out of it. For the non-Kiwi/Aussie folk...we have been slinging shit out of each other for many years. Most of it's in good fun,I've found that Americians in general don't 'get' our humour.Having a dig at someone is a national sport,it's all in fun.The object it to sling it back with a smartass quip, the better the quip the higher that person is held. Every now and again someone gets their feelings hurt, but they soon get back in the game. Then they are called a sook. Slinging shit at Pommies(English) is even more fun....LOL For the record,I'm a target shooter.I don't get time to go out hunting, but enjoy coming here to read the stories and exchange info. Regards,Shaun. Kids in the back seat cause accidents, accidents in the back seat cause kids.
