a ww2 warbird? a10 warthog? the latest jet fighter? the first plane at kittyhawk?

i cant decide between the sr71 blackbird and the a10...i am leaning twards the sr71. as a kid it instilled awe and patriotism of a time when it was still cool to be an american.

Turbine Sherpa (single) what a fun hunting machine that would be.

This would be my first choice, about 80 years ago. I watched it land in Oshkosh back in 98 or 99. What a way to travel.

Tough one. Today I would have to go along with the P-51 choice. However, my father flew P-38's and I would love to do that too!

Just one? Damn that's tough!

Anyway, I don't think I'd like flying a blackbird enough to devote the year or 2 of training needed to fly it!

Here's my choices for what I think are planes worth flying just for the experience of flight, not just being goddam busy getting between point A and point B.

I'll stick with the Thunderbolt, but could easily be persuaded to go with a Sopwith Triplane or the S.E.5a. thumb

I'd have to go with the SR-71. the technology involved in that beast has always facinated me and it's got to be as close to a spaceship an aircraft can be. World war ll favorite would have to be the P-51 or the Me 262.

Well, as lomg as we can dream, let's do a good job of it! I'll take a Pitts 'Special' with a flat-4 Lycoming or an "Eagle" with 200 horses out front, load it down with a couple of good 'Thirties' and go back to 1918. Bring on the Fokkers, etc. - Big ones, one at a time and the little ones, fast as you can get here. Which way did that red Fokker Dr. 1 go?
I can dream a bit, ok?

Lord, give me patience 'cuz if you give me strength I'll need bail money!!

yes the p51 would be awesome but imagine doing a live ammo run with an a-10! a plane built around a gun!

being that there have been so few pilots of the sr71 i think it adds to the allure.

but this is not realy about what i want but everyone individualy.

Just being able to fly the same kind of aircraft piloted by the likes of Rickenbacker, Gabreski, Collishaw, or McCudden would be dream enough for me, but I'm an eccentric. beer

Mine is not to fly, but to fly again:

A-4M Skyhawk (or just to fit in the damn thing once more!).

Second choice, and still possible:

Another summer in Alaska with a SuperCub.

...FA-18 Hornet. One hour in the "dome" at Cecil Field in 1996 was a hoot! Then another go in the sim going abourd ship...at night. Both experiences were enough to make the Hornet tops on my list.

Of course, I'd like to fly FW-190,P-47, A6M, etc.

Very Nice! Don't see too many of those beasties anymore (ever). There's a guy who flies his A1 over my house at about 200 feet about once a month. LARGE is the best descriptor I have for that thing. Big, green, & loud.
